Allow 3.26 Route Planner to recalculate route with different profile

If I use say Walking profile with the new Route Planner, but then change the profile to say a Bicycle profile, the existing route is not recalculated. Only further "route segments" take account of the new profile. So, there is no way to experiment with different router profiles other than starting from scratch.

My suggestion: add a Recalculate menu item to the Tools menu. Tap this button to recalculate all route segments using the currently selected router profile. This would be similar to the Recalculate button in the Navigation menu.

Hi guys,

I wanted to wait on some optimizations in how route are computes (to save some server-request on GraphHopper server) anyway ... let's enable this feature for now at least for BRouter engine.

So, new "Recaclulate" item in Route planner side menu. Let me know if it works as expected in next Beta version. Thanks.

In Beta (and previous beta) the functionality by long push recalculate in the route planner is very usefull and nice ?

it is correct that this function is working in Beta version, anyway I need to improve it a little to allow compute route more server-friendly > more parts at once, not every part separated as now.

At least Brouter should offer route calculation with via points parameters since 1.4.9 I think? Does it?

But...

I would like to remind you and to ask you to remain able to combine different profiles along the route.

I often use it. Part of the route by car, then on foot, and again, for example, outside the highway.

It would be a shame to lose this opportunity if the function changes to the whole route calculation.

@Condor - If you expect individual route section profiles to be retained then what would you expect this Recalculate function to do if section profiles are retained? The whole point of my suggestion is to recalculate the whole route with a new profile.

For example:

Keep current calculation.

Add to select - to recalculate the whole route.

I don't want to miss the possibility to create multi-profile routes, of course.

But RE-calculating a whole route with a single profile by long-press would be a usefull enhancement for single-profile routes. And the fact that it's activated by long-press prevents accidental recalculation.

Besides other usecases, I would like to use this feature for pre-planned routes, if for example the weather changed and I want to do the route with the profile's "wet conditions"-switch activated.

I don't particularly like the existing beta "hidden" long press function. It is not obvious to a casual user that the possibility exists. But I would prefer any method of recalculation than none at all.

I'd really need this feature released: when planning for a bicycle tour I regularly switch between profiles (road, Fastbike, trekking...).

Doing recalculation is a key part of that.

The lack of this feature is the main reason I still use the brouter standalone app for planning.

So vote++ from me.

I came here because I wanted this feature as well. My idea was, add a checkbox "recalculate all" to the screen where you choose the routing profile. On entering this screen, the checkbox should be empty.

@michael - wouldn't a button be better than a checkbox? The action is a once-off task (tap button) rather than on-going setting (checkbox). Anyway - thanks for kicking the suggestion along. Now 22 votes so considerable interest.

This item was mentioned in the 3.33 release notes (of the main version, as a Pro feature)

Unfortunately, I cannot find this function in that version.

Would someone mind adding a description how to get to it?
