Allow user to disable track recording in left actions panel

Completed

When I go to settings > Maps > Panels & buttons > Left actions panel, I observe the "Track recording" box is ticked but disabled:

02538f3655f48e176ddbdd7269c7c6a1

So in effect when a track is being recorded the left actions panel or left track recording button will be auto-displayed. BUT conversely when a track is not being recorded the button or panel may now be auto-hidden. I think this behavior could be improved.

I always want to see the state of any track recording button, I never want it hidden. Track recording is terribly important, and if it is incorrectly stopped or paused then I want to know immediately. On my recent 2 month cycle trip I often paused or stopped the recording while off the bike to save the battery, but later (sometimes) forget to resume the recording, and lost data. There was no indication on the screen. So as a work-around I added a right hand side track recording button, and this one always stays visible - see screen cap below. Of course now there is wasted screen space. So why not allow the user to untick track recording in left actions panel instead of forcing it, then the user can choose? Most will stick with the reasonable defaults, but others are then able to have their own permanently visible button.

Another advantage: now the button is much further away (right side) from the map scale, so less likely to tap the scale by mistake - see this suggestion.

You could move the standard button to the top panel in the future ... (if thsi is always visible in your setting)

Thanks Michael. Having the "standard" button on the top or right panel would be fine (although it has a different appearance to current top/ right buttons) but auto-hides itself when not recording.

Good day guys,

this feature was disabled because of worry of a mess with "track record control - bottom panel".

So in next version it will be enabled - you will see. Hope it will work fine.

I see 3.18.6.2 beta has implemented this suggestion. Excellent. Works nice.
