Answered

It looks like AndroidPIT is closing its app store and LocusPro cannot be updated anymore after 1-1-2015 for people having bought the software in their shop.

Many Greetings

I can´t understand why other developers transfer the license to amazon app store without cost.

There seems to be a problem with transfer to google play store but a solution with amazon would be welcome too. There is no point in asamm insisting they couldn´t do anything. At least they got some part of the money we paid for the app. In amazon other vendors just release vouchers for the

new buy. But it seems Locus wants to earn on androidpit´s closing by selling their app a second time.

No news in 2 weeks and support claims the problem is solved as "they can´t do anything" . Other vendors solve the problem within hours.

Good day Ralf,

it is not so simple because of a few reasons.

  1. I personally had no idea, that such possibility over Amazon store exists.
  2. We are trying to publish at least Locus Free on Amazon store for almost half an year. And with every new version we publish, we get negative response that "something is wrong". But our response, what exactly is wrong, remains unanswered. And we talk about Free version. We didn't even tried the Pro version.
  3. I do not know how other developers solve this problem, but Android PIT do not offer any details about transactions. We see only a date and nickname of user, nothing more. So there is no simple mechanism for some search based on users email etc.
  4. Because we are three people who work on Locus, I can really hardly imagine how we transfer 6.000 of purchased licenses to Amazon store with every person individually. Don't understand me wrong, but such amount people should require to hire another person, just for this task.

And in the end, we do not force anyone to purchase Locus on different store. This week we release new version 3.5.0 and this version will work for users of Android PIT forever. Agree, no updates, but users won't lost ability to use Locus.

Hello Menion,

what about a reduced price for locus a few days? (I once paid

€8,49 for it)

I accept, that androidpits closing is not your fault. And I accept

that you want to keep additional work/time with that as little as

possible.

But it is unacceptable that you earn on it a second time. How high

is your part of the google-earnings from new sells (6.000 x €7,50

= €45.000)? So there ist some money for reduction and or new

solutions.

Of couse you force nobody. But an update isn´t for new features

only. Mostly the updatelists contain lots of fixes.

And users will be forced sooner or later anyway, because we can´t

redownload our apps after the closing. What happens when we change

the phone?

Check our blog post here: http://www.locusmap.eu/androidpit-app-center-store-closing/ , mainly last sentence.

Till end of year will be possibility for some "cheaper" Locus :).

Version 3.5.0 will be this week, then we plan 14 days to release one, two, three... updates to make version as close to 100% working as possible.

I'll give here one unofficial answer (my personal, not official for team behind Locus).

Most people that purchased Locus on AndroidPIT, did it in times, it wasn't possible to pay even on Google. That time Locus cost was around 4€. I also remember two promo actions on AndroidPIT pages, where they wrote us some reviews, gave us some promo ads and we sold Locus with discount around 50%. So if I remember correctly, around 2000 people purchased Locus in year 2012 for around 2 - 3€. Sorry, but almost all apps I use on PC costs a lot more and mainly, I have to pay almost every year (or every second year) for updates (with reduced price) if I wants to be "updated". In case of all apps on Android, you pay once, updates forever. I completely disagree with this as this method force developers for alternative ways how to earn money for extra work they puts into update of app in case, they have low amount of new users and a lot of "old" users.

I see nothing wrong on what AndroidPIT did!! I see it wrong only from point, how they did it! They did not announce it with enough time reserve (year should be enough), they still sell Locus and we cannot stop it (WTF??) and I mainly do not understand, why they stop ability to upload new versions and update purchased app when stop sell should be enough.

Just my personal point.
