Could there be a simple addition to display the age of the Augmented GPS file and/or manually initiate an update?

Nick, may you please explain what is Augmented GPS file? You mean ephemeris that Assisted GPS automatically download to your device?

If so, I'm not even sure, if there is a simple way how to get this information. You saw it in any program?

Yes, AGPS - maybe 'assisted' rather than 'augmented' - sorry.

I realise I can choose the download frequency in Locus.

If WiFi is only occasionally available it would simply be nice to know the age of the AGPS file and to have the opportunity to update it 'on demand'.

I think this facility is available in the Android app 'GPS Status'.

I hope my second attempt is clearer.

Thank you.

Hi Nick,

understand. After a quick search, I wasn't able to find and useful information, how to get information about age of assisted GPS data. So for now, I suggest to put shortcut to Locus right panle on GPS status app and use it's inner feature for this task.

When amount of votes here increase, I'll try to find more time on this.

GPS status (only) keeps record of how long ago itself downloaded the A-gps data and tells you that information in its own screen.

For example: A-GPSD age: two days

Furthermore you can set it to automatically download fresh data when they are older than xx days.

Ah thanks, that should be the points. Because from what I know (and what Locus do), you can only 'call to system' - "Hey, try to download AGPS data as soon as possible". That's all. You cannot be sure it really works, because it completely depend on system.

Hmm as I think about it, is it really important and mainly useful to has this feature in Locus? I used this reset in Locus let's say, three times during my life ...

... and in worst case, I see no problem to keep GPS status installed. It's also rarely useful to check, if GPS connection problems are really not only in Locus :)

I think more about it today and I have to decline this idea.

As was told before, all these information are just "Approximate", because there is no known way for me, how to get precise values. And also, most modern devices should handle these data correctly on their own.

And in worst case, you may always use quite well working GPS status app.

Mhh,

what an option: Load agps at system start (boot time)?

Good day,

as I wrote before, all work with AGPS data should be made automatically by system and refresh should not be needed anymore in modern devices. So I see no serious reason why to create a service that starts always after reboot of device, just to reset AGPS data. This really should not be needed. Thanks for understanding.
