Azimuth and Speed in Point detail for track log
Answered
Hi,
This may be a newbie question, but can you clarify what Azimuth and Speed refer to in the Point detail of a recorded track?
It's not in relation to the center of the map like in data points and it doesn't seem to be in relation to the previous point in the track.
thanks.
Hi Katchy,
azimuth of a track point refers to the direction you were heading at the moment of recording of the trackpoint, the same the speed - it's the actual speed at the moment.

Hi Michal,
Thanks. That's what I thought it should be, but can you explain the data I have from a recorded track?
shouldn't point 52 be something closer to 330 degrees not 11. or point 53 be more like 120 not 37 ?

The azimuth at a trackpoint displays rotation direction of your mobile at the moment of recording the trackpoint, not the direction of the line between two trackpoints. Regarding quite fuzzy azimuth values ordinary phones return (they depend on HW compass or are calculated from GPS) they usually don't depict reality as clearly as we wish.
