Battery usage when recording and live tracking

Hi,

I managed to go down, to 12% of battery usage per hour (battery 1500mah), with track recording (every 10m) and live tracking (every 30s), using HSPA/3G and external BT GPS. Looking at the screen was neccessary, say once every 10-15 minutes. Two sim cards running. Walking only.

No mail syncing, no other apps runnig. No photos, no music. No calls.

Is it possible to go lower?

Should I use 2G only? (edge/gprs)

I need live tracking, and can't increase the interval (security issues).

Hi,

from my point of view is the bottleneck 3G network. Screen (when is turned-on) also drains battery but if you turn on only every 15 minuted it should by OK. There are some battery monitor apps in Google Play so you can investigate deeper which process consumes the battery. But please note that almost every battery monitor is unaccurate. You can try two or three apps and comare the results.
