Broken GPX Export

Martin shared this problem 9 years ago
Solved

Hi,

i have several folders of waypoints.

I export one folder to a GPX file, and i can open it with my Garmin Mapsource Software for PC.

But with some Waypoint folders this does not work - the exported GPX can't be opened.

Can you tell me where my problem is? is there a bug in the export function?

I'm finally testing it directly with baseCamp and seems that problem is really in incorrectly formatted addresses.

Thanks for a report and sorry for this issue. Will be fixed in next version.

Good day Martin,

quite logically I need something to start with.

Best should be your database with points (file Locus/data/database/waypoints.db) and information "which folder don't work", or (in probable case you do not wants to share your private database) exported GPX file itself.

Anyway Mapsource and Basecamp are two worst applications for opening GPX files I ever met. So I'm really not a surprised, that here is another problem with it.

I would like to give you something to work, but how?

I can't upload GPX files here - only images.

Simply pack GPX files to zip and upload zip files here or just rename gpx file to something acceptable like *.txt. I'll then rename it back.

Here you have one.

i tried erasing some lines, and it not works if i delete this:

  1. <metadata>

    <desc>File with points/tracks from Locus Map Pro/3.14.1</desc>

    </metadata>

It not works or it works? I see there another serious problem. For unknown reason, all addresses are incorrectly formatted, damn. Check lines 84, 112 and 134. Try to remove "<![CDATA[" before and "]]>" after on mentioned lines. This should help.

oh pardon, please ignore the "Not".

Mapsource opens the file, when I erase these lines.

Oh yes, with cleared lines 84 / 112 / 134 it works perfectly.

Where does this code come from? a bug in my points database, or does locus these while generating the gpx?

No problem, understand. Hmm I really do not like MapSource. Maybe just a problem with backslash. Anyway addresses are also wrong.

Ah problem on my side of course. Incorrect line of code, sorry for this. New version will be published probably next week, there is more similar problems..

Hm, in the latest locus changelog there is a info about fixing this problem, but the export still generates files which i cant open in mapsource.

Here you have a text GPX with only 3 waypoints.

Good day Martin,

I'm testing your file with latest version of Basecamp application and it works correctly. Latest MapSource seems to be six years old, is it possible? If so, then sorry, but I consider problem as solved. Supporting of Garmin software seems to be always a problem, and in this case, six years old ... :)
