Can't export to sd card

Answered

i just bought a new phone = axon 7 - marshmallow. i had a note 2 with kitkat, and they turned off the write to sd option. so anyway, i transferred the old sd card, and the old settings, and i can't write to the sd card. i'm not sure if i was able to before the settings or not. but i'd like it to work. other programs don't seem to have that writing to sd issue.

now i'm new to marshmallow, so i might be overlooking something. it says the disk is locked, but i don't think i set it to that option.

i'd like to get this thing working properly, any ideas? thanks

Hi, the only directory Locus can write in on an external SD is Android/data/menion.android.locus/files. Other apps have the same conditions. However, keep in mind that this directory is deleted upon Locus uninstall without warning.

before kitkat, i made my own directory. and that worked fine. but i'll give that other one a try.

interesting, it doesn't reject it. i wish i could direct it easier. but it seems now the card has the same problem as the rest of the phone. android protects it so i can't see any data in the pc at all. is there a fix for that one?

thanks

Best way, least hassle, even with MM is: put the working directory to internal SD/Locus.

Really big files are vector maps and elevation (SRTM/hgt) - I put them on external SD and fill them via PC.

Static world tiled maps (SQLITE) I put on external SD, too.

Dynamic SQLITE maps should stay on internal SD (Locus/maps).

the main problem is, android protects all the files. so i can't see any of them in either device. or at least last i checked i couldn't. the only solution i found that works is to send it to google drive. which isn't great, but works the easiest. wish they made it easier in the program.

i have the maps on the sd, and that works ok. the writing part it doesn't care for.

"Android protects all the files so I can't see any of them" - how do you mean this? And I must agree with Michael - the best performance you can get with the settings he proposes - Locus working directory on internal drive, vector maps, SRTM files, static raster maps on external SD.

Sure, I understand, so why not use the INTERNAL SD for those write intensive folders like data, export and alike ?

They are not too big in size. And the big ones like maps you put on external SD.

if i look in any directory on the pc, the directory is empty, even though it has stuf in there.

if i look at the internal on the pc - i see directories but they are all hidden away. it used to be that i could see the files on the external, but it seems now, everything the phone makes is also hidden in the pc. maybe there is a way to unlock that.

for maps, i use open maps i use http://download.mapsforge.org/maps/north-america/us/ if anyone needs any.

Try ES File Explorer in your mobile - it displays everything

i can use internal browsers, but the idea is, i need to export the track and such to the pc, and shouldn't have to use another app to move those those thing.

I see, to the PC. So export to Google Drive or Dropbox can do the thing.

Is the Android USB mode set properly ?

I also saw missing folder content updates on a LG G5, even in MTP mode.

Disconnect from PC and restart did sometimes help.

it should be, its a new phone, so i might be overlooking something. i have the options to:

install driver

connect to pc software

media device MTP (on that now)

camera ptp

my last phone didn't have these. maybe i'll try the connect to pc, i'm not sure how that would differ though.

PTP does not work with normal files like maps, hgt, and alike, it needs to be MTP.

Guys, I'm sorry but your discussion is running a bit out of the original topic - export to SD card. The original question has been answered so I'm closing this topic.
