Can't write to SD card on my Xperia Z3

I want to use my SD card as Locus Maps Pro storage location (maps, tracks, etc.). On my Sony Xperia Z3 with Android 6.0.1, Locus Maps Pro can see and read the external SD card (it appears mounted on /storage/6636-6562). But it can't write to it. In the stock file browser application "File Commander" I can choose between internal storage and SD, and I can read and write on both. ¿Could you please solve this problem? Thank you.

I have also tried mounting a remote Windows SMB folder (mounted as /storage/remote/myfolder), and again, Locus can see and read it, but not write to it.

Thank you very much for your quick response. It's a pity.

I have found a workaround! Each application has a folder in the SD card where it can write to. In my case is /storage/6636-6562/Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro. It's a bit deep in the SD folder hierarchy, but at least it works.

Good day Francisco,

it's more then a pity, mainly for application like Locus, where a lot of data may be on SD card. Unfortunately for most of users it ends with "this file browser can write to SD card, so Locus have to too". Which as You know now, is not correct.

Glad you found a solution with private directory. Please read about it here http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:use_sdcard_on_kitkat#android_442 - option "B". Just be careful, not to loose your data!

Have a nice weekend.
