City labeling
Answered
Hello Petr,
today while playing with different geocache icons i noticed that visibility of "city names" depend on used icons ?!
So it´s a disadvantage if user didnt use default icons.

Hi Wolfgang,
I think that this is interesting coincidence. The icons of user's points or geocaching icons can not influence the text captions in vector map. Point icons (not map icons) are independent on the background map. For example the online map isn't influenced by GC icons and it's the same for vector map.
However this issue is very likely caused due to highways labels. The highway labels and city labels have the same priority for user mapsforge renderer. (renderer for LoMaps). There are more highway labels on the 2nd and 3th screenshot that would be probably collide with city labels. For this reason renderer does not add them. As I know there isn't any simple solution for this behavior.
As I know we cannot influence the priority of captions in LoMaps renderer. Menion would probably say more about positioning of captions in MapsForge maps but it's little bit a black box for us :).
Thank you for understanding
Best regards
Petr
