Compass not working
Solved
My hardware compass does not work since version 2.7 approx.
It worked only in 2.8.4. Now I am on 2.8.5 and it is not operating again.
Symptoms pre-2.8.4:
- when phone is horizontal compass show North to North-East region only, but incorrect.
- in vertical orientation compass work proper.
2.8.4: works accurate independent of orientation.
Symptoms in 2.8.5:
- compass points to the North constantly independent of orientation.
Phone: Motorola Droid 2 Global
Android version: 2.3.4 Gingerbread
Current Locus version: Locus Pro 2.8.5
Hello Csaba,
it`s really a long time since I did something with compass system in Locus.
First and only thing, that should helps is by me simple calibration. Did you tried this? If not, simply try rotate your phone for a while around all your axis. This should help

Hello Guys,
thanks for quick answers. I know how to calibrate, and it did not work. Compass turned only some degrees when I turned phone from South to East.
BTW this issue solved itself somehow when I had play around with Androsensor app. :)
I do not now how and why, but when I have started it, none of the 3 compass axis read out correct data. X and Y were always positive, Z was always negative, independent of phone orientation.
Then I checked accelerometer data as well, and it showed some strange behaviour too. I did not have too much time to analize this, because within some seconds (maybe 10) graphs showed correct data on accelerometer graph and magnetometer graph as well.
So it is really strange, and now it is working perfect now.
My conclusion is that Locus is still an awesome app, and I might have to take special care to my smartphone. :)
Regards, Csaba

I have also these compass problems on my Nexus 7. On the Galaxy Nexus everything works fine. And the last update didn`t help.

Neumpe, usually these compass problems are not related to any specific application. Usually I please users for
1. test in different one or two applications to confirm that problem in not just in Locus
2. do really intensive hand-shake-rotations :) that may "calibrate" it
so please try it. Thanks
