I can't find a way how to create/modify POI from the app. Is it possible?

I'm sorry but it isn't possible to directly edit the OSM POIs from the app.

Is there an api that could be used by plugins to achieve it? I don't want to have installed separate app just to edit POIs and can contribute to locus ecosystem.

I'm sorry but there is no plugin at this moment. I can only suggest following workaround - every LoPoint (POI in LoMaps map) contains link to the OSM page (see attached image) you can use it to open details on OSM and use ID editor to edit it
