...or at least enable an option in settings that will delete these fieldnotes automatically. It does not make much sense to keep them once uploaded. Thanks

Totally agree. For me fieldnotes in locus are an aide-memoire, once uploaded to GC.com they are transformed into a readable log. So keeping them is pointless.

I think, that from this add-on is not clear few things that I wants to mention ...

1. add-on is called "Field notes" - oki. Anyway it serve mainly to work with logs! Not just for creating field notes. This name was choose by Ormoru mainly to make it clear, about it's purpose. Not sure if it perfect ... Ormoru openeded discussion about it yesterday here https://plus.google.com/114126520696670745221/posts/62xB3BFFpLc

2. currently Ormoru works on feature that will generate interesting statistics, like count of founds during weeks, months, etc. etc. So it should be universal tool for work with logs, not just uploading logs to web or generating fieldNotes file.

3. What you think about settings in field notes add-on, something like "Hide all already send logs", that cause that you will see only "unused" logs in list. So it won't be necessary to delete them, but you'll also get what you need - visible only unused logs ;)

Good idea I think. Other useful feature would be "show in Locus" for selected cashe.

2. ok understand, but if user want to use this statistic, precondition is to log only with Locus and FieldNotes and not sometimes with PC like me.

3. This will be an improvement,

but if user don´t want use statistic he has alway unneeded trash on his devive,

so i vote furthermore for a delete option.

2. what is "log by PC"? Are you exporting txt file over this add-on and then log over PC? It's same as over Locus directly.

And "trash"? Which trash ... all logs are stored in one small database. It's capacity is almost unlimited so there is absolutely no need to care about this.

I personally hope that Ormoru do not add this option, because it really do not make sense in this case. Anyway it's up to him.

Hi menion

log by PC means in my case: after Cachetour i open my GS-account on PC and log my founds .....

I started this "idea" (see first post) because Ormoru answered:

This is not so easy. This is needed communication with Locus API. Please send this wish to http://help.locusmap.eu/. And we will see. Thank you.

Oki. Here you may see how it looks, then too people that works on similar task, do not have clear answers on various tasks :)

So, we will see ...

I tend to agree with balloni55. Statistics would be fine....but I am not quite sure, what kind of statistics...and what about previous finds (before the new feature will be implemented). Having statistics just from a specific time/date would be....not so popular I would say.

Anyway, for people using "fieldnotes addon" just to record finds and consequently upload them to GC (to log), it is just 3 additional clicks (to delete the old fieldnotes and dont get lost what was and what wasnt uploaded already). Also, there is one small problem I spotted. If I keep fieldnotes without uploading them several days, only the "latest day" fieldnotes remain "selected"....its not a particular problem...it just takes additional "3 clicks" to get selected everything and upload everything....

Just read you reply and can now understand the purpose of this add on and can see where it is going. A misunderstanding on my behalf due to the name.

I think your idea at point 3 is good, hiding uploaded Fieldnotes but still retaining them for the statistics.

Have joined and have put my idea for naming

Hi all,

main idea is to replace old version logs, where logs was stored in "prehistoric" text file, to new version. Today most people play geocaching via mobile phone. I am too. Sometime I use outdoor garmin navigation to navigate (wrong signal, rain, snow etc.), but log I write to Locus. And I sync data between Locus and GSAK on PC. Why I am writing? I want to show you, that statistic in Locus not a bad idea. It is for people, which know, that it is statistic only from all logs stored in Locus. And maybe it will encourage some to logging via Locus only :)

About setting to hide already send logs. I don't add this setting. I have more powerful idea. Filters. In the future you can filter by log type, by date, by send logs status, by gc code, by name, by favorit point ... I think, that it's is more usable.

I can think about it, that until no filter add this setting.

Addon is for you to manage Locus logs. Not only to post log to the web. Some people don't use pc program for manage caches and Locus is primary application for all things.

I totelly agree with this idea. I don't see any reason for keeping already uploaded logs. Why? They are uploaded, I can't change them (in addon) so why should I keep them?

It really bothering me, when I have to (after successful upload) start addon again, select all logs and delete them.

At least make it optional in Settings.

Thank you in advance.

Hello Voldík,

please may you explain me, why you needs to delete old logs? I personally use this add-on and see no reason why to do that. I have in settings of add-on enabled "Hide logged logs" and I just see what I need to see. No problem.

So I personally still see no! reason for this feature, sorry.

Because when I want to manage new logs, I want to start with "clear table". I upload some logs (especially short one) directly as real logs and some as fieldnotes for later (typing on PC keyboard is more comfortable then mobile keyboard).

Hiding is pretty nice, but I see in addon's changelog that is feature is just temporary. Why? For how long?

Hi Voldik,

Yes, it is just temporary, because in the future will be replaced with most powerfull filters. Now you can hide loggged logs only. With filters you can show only founded caches, not founded caches, all logs between two dates, in defined month, with part of the cache name etc.

So, still this addon is named fieldnotes, but vision is such that it should your friends for your logs.
