Distance to a highest/lowest point of a previously recorded track or a part of it

Hi,
Sometimes when I download a recorded track of someone else's ride, I would like to see during my ride how far the highest point of the whole track or a smaller section of the track is. I mean I climb a hill following the GPX and, okay, I can see the track on the map, but I would like to know the distance left to the highest peak of it/the track.
What do you think?

I like this idea 
Perhaps not exactly what you want, but you can use a track style with the colour scale based on the altitude. The scale is AFAIK normalized as blue for lowest points till red for highest ones.

You can create a dashboard with a graph with profile of the route you are following.
