Does Locus Map use outdated version of Mapsforge Library/API? City names not visible on OAM

There seems to be a major issue with displaying names of cities and villages in OpenAndroMaps with Locus Map. The issue does not exist, when the same maps are used with other apps like Oruxmaps. The issue seems also part of a discussion here. And I had a discussion in the forum of OAM, (unfortunately in Gemran language only, sorry)

As far as I understand the issue's root cause is that Locus Map uses an old or outdated verison of the MapsForge Library.

If I understand Menions comment in above mentioned discusison correctly I would assume that it is confirmed that Locus Maps has an issue here and Menion wants to fix it. Just for completeness I add the topic here so votes could be collected and we have a single place to read about updates from Asamm Software.

Good day Bernhard,

your information are correct. Current default version of MapsForge library is based on old version 3, highly customized, but still with numerous bugs like this one mentioned here.

Hi Menion, thanks for the confirmation! Is my impression right, that you're planning sometimes to update Locus Map to the latest Mapsforge version but it will take some time as it is a huge effort?

Most probably yes. We made a lot of customization to MapsForge V3 that is used in Locus Map and we still find it better in few areas compare to new version. Anyway it is already some time since I compared it so it may not be true.

Anyway I consider current rendering of vector maps as one of biggest Locus Map problems, so we will for sure work on this during this year.
