Download fail - do I have to pay again?

Solved

Hello,

I tried to download several vector maps. Some succeeded (Germany-Nordrhein-Westfalen and Austria), others not at all (e.g. Italy) and Germany complete downloaded for a certain percentage, then I got a failue notice, I tried again several times, but was always interrupted. Now in the summary all of the selected maps are added as purchased, but they are not downloaded and not in my map list. Then, when I restart Locus (Free), I get another failure notice "Problem with file.." see attachment.

How can I get my (paid!) maps?

Regards, Kirsten

Hello Kirsten,

It seems that there is some issue with your default Locus directory or maybe even with your SDcard. So I suggest to solve first issue with duplicated directory.

Locus needs to have only one default folder where are (by default) stored all maps, point or tracks. The screenshot you send us shows that Locus find two possible directories and ask which one you want to use as default. There can be more reason. Maybe you started Locus when SDcard wasn't ready or maybe you've updated on Android 4.4 Kitkat. Please try to select /sdcard1/Locus (confirm not ask again) and try to start Locus. Let me know about progress. I have also additional points: Please send me:

- version of Android

- version of Locus app

- I suggest to check SDcard in some diagnostic tools

- please send me on out email: support.locus@asamm.com , your google email that you use in Locus store. I'll check your purchases.

Thank you

Petr

Hi Petr,

I checked my Sd card, seems to be ok and it's Not write-protected.. My Android version is 5.02, the Locus Version US 3.8.0.

When I get the failure Note, below there is written: 'problem with default device sdcard1/Locus. Device is write-protected. Please check if sdcard is locked.

Sinne Android 4.4 and higher, applications cannot write on sd card. If you already have Locus on your sd card, remove the whole device sdcard1/Locus Info internal storage.'

Weil, I would prefer to have the storage device on sd card, because of the huge Data amount. Any idea what to do?

I forgot to tell you the result of my attempt to change directory in the problem note window: I am not able to chose the other checkbox. Just nothing happens.

Hello Kirsten,

you're right there are some limitation with SDcard on Android 4.4 and higher. Please read section B a C in article: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:use_sdcard_on_kitkat

I guess that you've already probably tried to move Locus main folder to the location /sdcard1/Android/data/menion.... As is written in mentioned article this folder has some advantage but also disadvantage. Folder is on sdcard and Locus has full permission to write or delete files. But if you decide to install Locus then all map, points or tracks will be removed.

Anyway how to solve this situation. There has to be only one folder with name Locus

- so, please rename folder /sdcard1/Locus to some arbitrary name "Locus_backup"

- start Locus -> Locus uses as default folder /sdcard1/Android/data/menion....

Now you can check if Locus contains all maps or points. If not you can manually copy maps from /sdcard1/Locus/mapsVector to the folder /sdcard1/Android/data/menion.... /mapsVector

Please let me know if you were able to start Locus

Thank you and sorry for troubles

Hi Petr,

I exactly did what you worte: I renamed file /sdcard1/Locus, and after starting Locus I found all my maps and tracks. It was so easy, thanks! No more fail note.

I once retried to download my missing but purchased maps, looks like it works. but I stopped it because of such bad transmission rate. I will try again later. Last question: how many download trials do I have?

Thank you so far for your great help!

Regards, Kirsten
