Download map on PC and upload to Android device
Answered
How to download (OSM MTB Europe) map on PC and then import it in Locus map on Android device? I would like do download quite big area and it does it very slowly on android.
Often I got error and on beginning on every restart I think it goes through all parts which seems sloow. I end up with "Downloaded: xxx" going up while "Today: xxx" counter stands still until some long period of time.
google: "run android on virtual machine"
setup an included playstore android image
install locus in the virtual machine
download map
copy to your smartphone sdcard

What about downloading it by MOBAC and saving it as RMAPS SQLITE ( recommended officially and verified as compatible with Locus ).

Hi,
firstly, thank you guys for help. I think both options could work, though Menion had recently warned that RMAPS not always work well. Does MOBAC support also some other formats? Like MBTILES or GEMF? I would choose them instead. As for virtual machine I myself have good experience with MEmu (I evaluated also some others in this article >>)

I do not have my MOBAC instalation handy now, but I took recently part in a discussion about Rmaps format troubles. I was saying SQLite (RMaps) works fine for me. But Menion clarified my confusion, when he said the discussed Rmaps format is different to SQLite ( Rmaps ) and the latter is just fine.......
Truth is, MOBAC supports many formats.

Yes Libor. MOBAC do the job also very well. Best file format (According to my experience) is the BigPlanet SQLite format

To add for other users, SQLite is not a map format itself, but a database format of SQLite DB software. Within a SQLite DB, there can be defined as many formats for map storage as the authors wish. Therefore there exist multiple "SQlite formats".
