Downloading of selected area of maps does not work

Jan Korenek shared this problem 8 years ago
Solved

Downloading of selected area of maps does not work on my devices:

Asus Nexus 7

LG Nexus 5

ending each time with the following error message, while there is plenty of free space on device (actually there is no slot for SDcard) and the internet connection is ok:

"Problem with downloading tiles. Check internet connection and space on SDCard and try again!"

/storage/emulated/0/Locus/maps

(e.g. Freemap Turistic / version of Locus Pro: many versions - it lasts almost a year)

Good day Jan,

unfortunately this error is quite general. I'll try to improve it to next version. Currently all possible errors with card, internet connection and even with web map server are reported with this message, so is not clear, where may be a problem. Anyway I'm not aware of any problem with downloading tiles with Locus, so it looks more on a problem with Freemap web server. Anyway we will see in next version.

Let me please know if I may help somehow at the problem resolution. Some logs? Debugging? (I haven't found any other related error messages so far).

I doubt it's related to the Freemap web server, as the older phone Samsung Galaxy Nexus works still fine with current and also previous versions of Locus Pro and downloading map tiles.

Hmm you may of course try to create a log by this method: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:how_to_create_debug_log , but hard to say if there will be something useful. Anyway if you have no problem with it, we may try log also. Thanks

I know this article and method of taking the bug reports, but there is nothing crashing in Locus Pro application, so this option is just grayed-out. I would assume it's just a matter of some configuration.

I'll try the CatLog app then, but that error does not have to be propagated among the system messages.

Logs aren't just about crashes. When something wrong happen and application post this message to logs (like Locus do in most cases), these information may be also found in logs retrieved by system method or CatLog. Take it and we will see.

Hmm, in log is unfortunately nothing useful.

Anyway I tried to zoom out to level 11 and on borders with Poland, you may see a lot of map tiles where Locus display "Internal server error".

One of tiles is for example this: http://b.freemap.sk/T/10/567/347.jpeg

Do not know how much you are skilled, but request on this tile really ends on http code 500, which means "Internal server error".

I've just contacted one guy that take care about this server and he already promised, he will check it in the evening. I'll give your more information immediately I'll know something new.
