Draw line(s) from point(s) to a given direction
Completed
Hello,
There is one feature missing to me to make the product perfect to my usage :-)
From a points on the map, I'd like being able to draw a line in a given direction in degrees. The value of the direction I want to enter is coming from a magnetic compas (to help in retrieving meteo balloon, fox hunt, crashed plane...)
I need also to be able to draw that kind of lines from different points for tirangulation
Best regards.
Hi James
do you know "Line Tools" single line or intersection?
http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:geocaching:tools#geocaching_tools1
only disadvantage for now from my view, these built lines are only temporary available.
After restart of locus they are gone
Wolfgang
EDIT:
with route&measure you can draw lines from map center or GPS with displayed direction degrees and length, these lines can be stored one by one. While storing they can be named e.g. 230° 2000m

Hi Wolfgang,
Thank you for your feedback.
I tried with Geocaching Tools, in fact my need is between "Line Tools" and "Projection", more persistance of data.
Your second proposal in the "edit" you did is very interesting, looks very close to what I would like to do. It's just I don't know how to display the direction in degrees. The lenght is well displayed on the line while drawing, but I didn't see the direction and don't know how to display it even after seach in parameters. If you could guide me about that.
Thank you very much.
James

Hi James
inside locus folder you´ll find a file "config.cfg"
open this with e.g. Notepad+
in top of opened file you see description for values "values above/below lines"
so modify set "value_below" from 0 to 2
and save your changes
restart Locus and have fun
Wolfgang
map_items_selection_line_value_above=1
map_items_selection_line_value_below=2

Hi Wolfgang,
I tried your last proposal this week-end, it went very well and I'm very happy with it. I will use it again during an exercise in 2 weeks, I'm sure all my colleagues will want LocusMap :-)
In the case you intend to integrate natively that feature in LocusMap, feel free to contact me again, I always have improvment idea...
Thank you very much for your help.
Best regards,
James
