Export to Gpsies gives Umlaute Problem
Solved
Umlaute (ä, ö, ü,...) are wrongly recognized in Gpsies. Do not know, if its a problem of Gpsies or the interface.
Or are there settings I have to take care.
If you could check pls ?
thanks
krg Rob
comment good solution!
Hi Rob,
and these values are in description or name of exported track or in your username (or password) used for login?

Hi Menion,
it ́s in the trackname. Description is not even exported to GPSIES !
You can check:
http://www.gpsies.com/map.do?fileId=n...
Username and PW are ok, BUT for PW I had to use:letters, numbers AND special characters in GPSIES, then it was accepted in LOCUS.
strange....

Hi Rob,
I noticed that you already discussed about it on "old" forum. May you please write some result from that discussion so I should start work on it (finally I know ...)? Thanks

Hi menion, thx for taking care ...
Unfortnately no news: druki described it very good (so it`s not my problem only) :
There is a problem with exporting data (tracks) to GPSies with german special characters like äöüß. It seems that when giving the data to the API of GPSies, the coding of the characters is not propper UTF-8 at some point. It could be Locus or it could be GPSies. Could you verify this behavior and maybe get into contact with the developer of GPSies (Klaus Bechtold). Thanks in advance and greetings.

...and Rob
Edit: exporting in kml, gpx,.. are correct displayed in any other app. Only direct export to GPSIES does not work correctly.

sorry it took so long. I forced UTF-8 encoding to name before sending to GPSies and seems to work now correctly. Test next version and let me know in case of remaining problems

good and "bad" news:
good: Export of german special charakters works now when direct export to Gpsies (thanks!).
to improve: description of Locus is not sent to Gpsies when exporting directly.
When importing from Locus-exported GPX it ́s working fine.
It ́s a minor issue I know, bit it ́s annoying...
So would be glad if you could fix it too....
thanks in advance.

Klaus (owner of GPSies) answered me quite fast. So "description not send" issue is now also fixed!
we`re also discuss about deeper intergration of GPSies into Locus (maybe using Locus API in GPSies application) so ... I`m sure there is something to look forward ;)
