Fastest way to create a new waypoint?
Hi,
a large part of my usage of Locus Pro is recording tracks to be uploaded to openstreetmap.org.
For some reason I had never used waypoints when doing this, so when yesterday I did try them out, I was overjoyed to find that, unlike other types of points, waypoints are transmitted to OSM together with the rest of the track.
Today, on a six hour walk for OSM, I created upwards of 140 waypoints with descriptive names.
This brings me to my question:
Is there a faster way to create such a waypoint than...
-double tap on the screen to bring up the side bar,
-tap on Record Track
-tap on New Point?
(Is there, maybe, a setting I haven't found that brings up this point creation when I long-tap on the screen in place of the regular "brown shape with 'i' " kind of point?)
Regards,
Jochen
Hi,
please consider this solved: I realised only during today's walk that, if for example I want to enter a large number of addresses in a particular street, I can simply leave the box with the relevant icon open and then need only one tap for each new point.

Hi Jochen, I use the bottom track recording panel (can be set in menu > settings > track recording) that contains the waypoint adding button. The panel doesn't slide in like the side panel. Long tapping it opens a dialog to set the default kind of added point - common, photo, video etc.

Hi balloni55, the add-waypoint button is metioned directly in the track recording chapter, basic instructions of use http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:tracks:recording, then in the following chapter about recording panels and widget http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:tracks:recording:panel. Both chapters contain the information about the alternate bottom panel, as well as the chapter about track recording settings http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:tracks:recording:settings

however, there are more methods how to add points quickly, e.g. the "quick point" feature: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:points:quick_add

Hi, Michal,
thanks a lot - I tried the bottom panel today; 112 points set with extreme ease.
Tomorrow I may out the QuickPoint feature you mentioned, but the bottom panel really works perfectly for me!
Thanks again.

Hi Jochen, glad to hear it! Locus Map has so many options and properties and keeps surprising even such experienced users like balloni55 :) or myself. I understand your query has been successfully answered so I'm marking it as "answered".
