Filter geocaches by county
Gathering feedback
Hi there.
I am a heavy user of GSAK and I like to import databases to Locus to better manage my geocaches.
One of the fields I miss the most is the county (and state), which allows me to filter the caches of the county where I am when travelling.
Would it be possible to add this field to the Locus layout to allow us to filter for those caches when we are on the field?
Regards.
Nice thought...
Not all states are divided into countries.
I can not really imagine how the filter should work.
Fulltext search in POI works now.

If a state has no counties, the conty field would simply be empty...
The filter could have a state field and a county subfield if existent.

Hi,
I think what you need is fully covered by sorting caches by distance - no need of filtering which would be quite complicated (Locus would have to contain coordinate definitions of all world counties, then it would have to calculate what county the cache coords fit into - i.e. a lot of computing performance - further battery draining, storage engagement etc.)

Hi, Michal.
I understand that, but why not import and use the data already stored in GSAK imported points?
When I started this thread it was with the premiss of importing points from a GSAK database, which already has that information. Locus would only have to read those fields. If empty, it would return nothing.

The current solution:
Full text search in POI. Enter country name. Find the search result on the map.
Ta-daaa .... ;-)

I see, GSAK has this information, OK, that changes a lot (I'm not GSAK user :). I'm changing this question into an idea - when it gets stronger support from other geocachers, we'll implement it.

I've managed to input this data (country, county and parish) in the description field, which helps a lot, but it would be nice to filter theses caches via the filter menu. Would it be possible to add the possibility of filtering also by description, instead of filtering only by name or GC Code?
