Name peaks in horizont, AR view

I am at the moment in holiday Inn the Norwegian mountains, and I am often curious of what the name is in the peaks in horizon. I have tried some apps, but they are based on a database, and many of the peaks are to small.

My idea is to make a AR view that shows the peaks name over the tops. (Maybe with a thin peak profile over the picture for calibration of compass and angle)

Another idea is to make a AR view with camera picture on top, and map in bottom. On top it can be a marker that represent the center in map on bottom. Then we can seek for peaks in the horisont (or another things mir near, as lakes, or maybe builidings), and look at the map to find names and more info.

I think this would be an great augment for the app.

Would be interesting, not only for peaks but also for villages, castels, in fact for many landmarks.

There is already a Locus add-on with AR which is doing exactly that

Well, i have tried this, but i think it just views points you have stored. Not peaks. It would also-ran be nice to view the map in in part of the screen.

I tried the the plugin again now, but it don't seems to work?

The plugin works OK, but indeed it show only existing POIs..

If you want peaks, I think the best app it is called PeakFinder

i have tried that, but as i said it only shows peaks in a database. If the peak (or country) is too small or doesn't help. Therefore i want to see the map, and read the info ftom that.

ive been using the Ar plugin and just showing the peak category from the lomaps POI database, been working fine for me in england. I think if your peak isnt showing, better to get that added to the osm poi then trying to get locus to do something differently it already does

I also vote to add this feature. Why leave the Locus app when much of the data is already in the app? Maybe the VR plugin mentioned previously could be modified to name non-poi peaks?

view ranger had the 3d view, so does Alltrails, its called teh 3d flyover....i think vieranger licensed it from anotehr company as an addon and it just sent the track/route to the 3d flyover....google earth used to do something similar with a kml, but this would be a great gold feature and anotehr reason to warrant subscription....
