Geocaches invisible after using beta version 2.11.1.10

rvheddeg shared this problem 11 years ago
Solved

Hi, I have used beta version 2.11.1.10 and I admired the enhanced zooming functionality. But I noticed some strange thing, I can`t see my geocaches anymore when I`m zoomed in more then 30km.

The problem is that I can`t see them anymore when using the official release 2.11.1

I have checked the data, but all my geocaches are checked. I have deselected and then selected them all.

The points that are show on the card are my own points. They are in the first category also (if that`s the problem)

Roeland I`m sorry you still have some weird problems (btw. are you using original ROM in your device?) ...

Anyway I`m sure you know, that just from screenshots is usually very hard to solve such problems. Best way is if I may reproduce this problem on my device.

So in this case, if you may prepare for me GPX file with some points and if such method

1. create new empty folder "test"

2. import GPX into this folder

3. display all points on map

4. select Online MapQuest and zoom out to level 10

5. "missing points" problem occur

will also on your device produce this error, then I`ll gladly test and fix it.

I just create new folder and copy caches and basic points into this folder and no problem. Also LogCat sometimes helps as they may be some problem on background

Menion,

My device is still a Samsung Galaxy S2, 4.1.2, not rooted.

Baseband-versie:I9100XXLS8

Buildnumber: JZO54K.I9100XWLSD

I have imported 10 new geocaches in a new folder "Test".

This works as expected.

I have a geocache folder with 4550 caches in it. Those are not visible anymore when I zoom in.

I have another folder with around 400 caches in it. Those are still visible.

This problem appeared first in version 2.11.1.10, but then Locus Pro behaved the same.

I`ll make a new logcat session for you.

Man, this is becoming even weirder!

When I was testing the beta version and moved the map to the north (cursor to the south) suddenly all my caches reappeared. When moving the cursor to the north, they were all gone again. I could reproduce this behavior in Locus 2.11.1 also.

My guess is the following:

I have imported a whole lot of geocaches with the beta versions of Locus. Could it be that there was some extra info, or some wrong info that was imported? Or something was misplaced?

You had to change something in the import for me, right?

So that when you are displaying this folder, some error occurred and you then just skip this whole folder?

I have tested this idea, and when I only select geocaches way out of the place where I imported them, everything works as usual. Any idea`s?

Hmm this make more sense for me now :) Locus check if items are in visible are or not and by this decide what to draw and what not.

You have all imported from PQ files? If you don`t mind, may you please

1. export whole folder to GPX

2. import this single GPX into new folder and check if it works in same way

3. if so, then it will for sure do same problem on my device. So may you share this GPX with me? Packed into zip and send for example over http://sharegadget.com/ should not be a big problem.

I would like to release today new version :) so this has my full attention ...

What do you mean PQ files? I have imported geocaches with geocaching4locus.

I`ll try to export/import this folder to gpx?

Ooh, I get it. Pocket Queries. No, just geocaching4locus

hmm by PQ I mean PocketQuery ... if you imported them by G4L, then there should be a problem that all caches are only a "simple" caches. When you try to import them, G4L will try to download all missing data from internet so export will take quite a long ...

so maybe more simple solution.

- backup all your data in backup manager (or just copy somewhere file Locus/data/database/waypoints.db

- delete all categories except this one (mainly just not to send me so big database if you have there much more points)

- send me this file if you don`t mind

perfect thanks ...

uff problem found. It`s a "Zephos final" point. Do you have idea where this point came from? Because if has completely nonsense coordinates in database and seems to be completely corrupted. If you click on it, it crash whole Locus but if you just delete it by tools button in list of points, all will work fine ...

Thanks for solving this.

I have no idea how the coordinates get corrupted.

Did you see the other issues I had with the beta version? I added them in my previous issue (something about crashing Locus when importing geocaches...)

I hope they are also solved (if reproducible by you of course ;-)...)

If so, release the new version!
