Geocaching found smileys: show cachetype too

Guest shared this idea 7 years ago
Completed

Yesterday I went caching with a friend and we visited caches, I have already found. I was using locus, but I wasn't able to tell the type of these already found caches (Traditional, Multi, Unknown). As well as on the map as also within the Listing all I can see is the yellow Smiley.

please change the icons of found caches either into a big smiley combined with a little symbol of the cachetype or the opposite: a Big cache symbol and a little smiley.

The same is true for the blue "didn't find" smiley!

And another detail would be handy: Please display the red dot marking solved (computed) caches as already with unfound caches. (both within the map and the details page)

This loss type is the problem of cache found.

Does not that really lack this important information?

The type of cache should be a basic info in the cache.

Also, in the cache list, either text or an icon for this free space.

I remember this theme because my friends bombed me ;-)

Would it be possible to add this simple information at least to the details of cache?

There are two options on the pictures. Ideally both or just one.

We thank you.

@Menion

please short answer.

Is it difficult to implement? If so then it will be my argument for the community.

Well thank you.

Not so complicated, I just still do not received ideal idea how it should look.

Anyway ... something done, so next version ;).

So, I have just updated and - what do I need to do to see a combined icon? :)

Thanks for the whole community of people for implementation.

Combination icon and text is super!

Oh, I probably misunderstood this request. You wanted to see this in the basic information of the cache? I hoped this is about combined icon visible immediately in the map. Something like cache type icon, with small smilie icon on top of that icon...

Hi Menion, thanks ver much, now we're able to see the cachetyp within the listing.

But as skubko above said: Would it be able to put a tiny cachetype-icon on the map's icons too? We now just see yellow "found" smileys or blue "DNF" smileys. But no info about cachetype at first sight.

Complicated to do now, sorry. I believe that when this information is needed (which is not so often I believe), it won't be a problem to tap on cache and see it's details ;).

I also thought that the main Icon will be replaced by a combination of the original one and the additional found status.

Every time when I log caches via FieldNotes Pro I often need the information if it was a Mystery or a Traditional or,... when I know that I better remember the situation. So I allays have to open the listing to get this information. With this thread here I though this would now be enhanced.

Thanks for explanation !

thats exactly often my problem too

If you write a log via Locus, you have that information about the type on the card.

If you are using FieldNote add (I'm do not), then you must refer to the FieldNote add-on request for type information.

Or did I misunderstand your logging procedure?

I think/thought that if locus changes icons they are changed in all add-ons too.

This would not be the first time that changes on the main program have an effect to an add-on.

Several times in the past this "problem" poped up again in everyday's work with Locus. Either I've been caching with a friend and wanted to help him to find a nearby found cache where I just remember the cachetype. Or if looking on the map of found Caches to find a special cache I just remember the cachetype and its approximate region.

Screen1: If there are dozens of other found smileys nearby, it's an annoying and timeconsuming task (especially on slower, older phones) to sequentially click onto several found caches icons, then click onto the pop-up window to open its description site, and finally scroll down to see it's cache-type icon.

Screen2: So if it isn't possible to add Cachetype to the found icon on the map as suggested, then maybe the follwoing idea could be a compromise: Within the popup of a cache, put the cachetype icon in front of the line with the log icons. This would require us to just make one click per cache to see its type, and not to make several clisk and to wait some annoying seconds until Locus loads its description site.

Hello Sonny,

I got your point and understand. I'm checking already quite an old code in the app that care about this (icons) and I may only confirm, that it is complicated. I see an option how to do it. It will take some time and also break compatibility with older app versions, which is not a big problem I believe.

Unfortunately spending a day on this task is something I currently can't afford. In next version of the Locus Map, point popup will be "lighter" so also faster than current big point screen, so it will be at least a little faster to obtain this info.

Thanks for understanding.
