GPS auto off not recording
Recording profile
Distance: 10m
Time: 1s
Condition: and
Accuracy: 25
Auto off
Update interval: 60s
Min accuracy: 25m
Search: 60s
Keep enabled: off
Under the above conditions, the track doesn't record new points in the background, but it does when the screen is on. Further, when I do turn the screen on and GPS gets a fix with better than 25m accuracy, it still doesn't record points for about 10 seconds, even though the position does change. After that 10 seconds, it then continuously records track points.
If I turn Keep Enabled on, it does record track points in the background ok.
This is only about the second or third time I've tried this, so I'm trying settings on the fly, rather than going in cold with all settings pre done and starting a new track.
Cheers
Good day Goosien,
thank you for your bug report and sorry for month delay. I've spent some time on this problem and may confirm that there is something weird. What Android version are you using? My device has Android 9 and seems that after cca 30 minutes, the device is put into some kind of deep-sleep and Locus Map stops receive locations completely. We fight with various battery optimizations since Android 7 (mainly A8+) and this seems to bypass all possible mechanism I've created.
I'll have to invest more time here and try to find a solution (or remove this functionality from the app). I'll let you know here if I find anything, but for now, I may only suggest not to use GPS auto-off. Thanks for understanding.
Btw. 10 seconds you found is correct behavior. Locus Map drops first ten received GPS locations, because they are usually very unprecise.
