GPS auto off & Track recording not working anymore
On my Galaxy S5 the track recording with GPS Auto off does not work properly anymore. Can it be it has sth to do with my update to Android 5?
The Track record works properly if Screen is kept on and Locus is in Background. But when Screen is turned off. Only the next Point is recorded and then no more Points.
1. I tried various things - i set Locus Settings as below to ensure a 100% condition.
2. The phone is in no energy saving mode,
3. App optimization for Battry life is switched off
Following are the locus settings
- GPS Auto off enabled: accuracy 300m, search time 50 sec, interval 30 sec
- "Disable Location when Screen turned off an GPS not required by function" enabled
- track record profile accuracy 4000m, every 20 sec, Minimum distance 1m, record a Point if time AND distance match criteria
- Altitude Manager pressure sensor off, altitude filter off.
Amendment:
Points are recorded very scarcely like say 1 Point where you'd expect 10 Points, so Locus is not completely broken. Leaving the Screen on with Locus in Background everything is all right again the GPS sign Comes up every 30 sec and goes off again due to fast and accurate GPS signal. And i kept it in my Hand so it is not related to bad GPS Signal in my pocket...
I updated Locus to the recent Version on 01st May 2016 - with no effect.
The disabling of "Disable Location when Screen turned off an GPS not required by function" is not helping.
Points are recorded properly when gps Auto off is off.

Amendment: Oh yes, I read the
Topic "Track recording doesn't get GPS fix every 60 seconds" by Kevin Kaland shared this question 2 months ago
which does not help.
I mean I figured out the Problem when my trofile was 49m accuracy, 15 Minimum distance, each 20 sec with GPS Auto off Settings 49 accuracy, 40sec, search time 50.
It has nothing to do with These Settings, as these always worked very well and my phone gets a very quick and accurate fix on GPS.

now when I switch to
track recording each 3 sec,49m accuracy, min 15
and GPS auto off each 15 sec, accuracy 49m,55 sec search time track recording is working properly and I see a point each 20 sec.
Now when I switch to the same settings with 20sec GPS auto off instead of 15 secsec I see a point exactly each 5min!
So can you do something about that? It was working with android 4.1 but with the latest 5.0 its all crap.
Maybe its got something to do with power optimization ... however I have all power saving and battery optimization off...

Good day Sebastian,
sorry for a delay with my answer. I was testing it in the field during a week and I wasn't able to simulate this problem.
Anyway just yesterday I was working on one issue with one use and after a long time and some testing versions we found quite interesting problem. His problem was, that live tracking service in Locus send correctly location every few seconds when screen was on, but when turned off, it sends data only once per 5 minutes, so exactly what happen to your with "GPS auto-off" feature.
Here is our discussion: http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/live-tracking-intervall-while-display-is-off#comment-28118 . Unfortunately workaround I found is applicable only on Live tracking service, but not on "GPS auto-off". So I'm sorry, but this issue cannot be "solved" for now, as it is a problem directly in device that prevents of more frequent background updates then once per five minutes ... probably some special battery saver.
