GPS notification sound not played
I'm not sure if it's a problem with my phone, with Locus or with my understanding of the underlying logic:
I really like the idea of the notification whenever a GPS fix is acquired or lost. However, when trying it out, I only ever seem to get the "Acquired" sound. The "Lost" sound is not played when
- GPS is turned off
- Unit is searching for GPS
Now I at least would've expected it to be played when the unit's GPS is turned off. Is this "by design" in Locus? This is ok when you turn off GPS manually - but there's a lot of apps that can do that automatically (Tasker, Profile apps, etc.). If one of them is doing that (probably because I forgot some setting I had active), I would like to know.
The behaviour when the unit is searching for GPS, I don't really understand. I would've assumed that when the GPS icon in the status bar starts blinking that means that a fix has been lost. On the satellites screen of Locus, I can see that the "Last GPS fix" time isn't updated. But still no notification. It probably makes sense to wait for some seconds, so not to sound it repeatedly - but I waited for minutes and nothing happened. When the fix came back, the "Acquired" sound was played.
So is this a bug or some problem with my phone or is there some setting I'm missing.
Sorry for the several questions in one...
Good day Ingo,
your observations are correct.
Notification on lost GPS fix are done only in case! , you have still enabled GPS in your device, but it lost it's signal for at least 60 seconds. You may test it simply by keeping GPS enabled, obtaining fix close to window and then move somewhere deeper into flat (or maybe during shopping, etc.) and Locus should around an one minute after last fix notify about missing valid location.
I understand your issue with tasker or other apps that may change state of GPS on background, but I'm not sure, Locus should take care about such special cases ...
Anyway generally, what you found is how Locus works and not an issue. I'm thinking if Locus should notify on lost FIX even in these cases (as you wants and expect) or if current system is how it should work. Hmm ...

And a good day to you.
I do get your point about Locus not "responsible" for when something outside of its control changes. I'll just have to make sure my tasks aren't interfering or turned off. I would still appreciate a "Notify also when GPS turned off" setting, even if it's only in the config file.
About the other thing, I have to admit that I got my volume settings wrong, that's why I didn't hear anything.
But... What definitely doesn't work is the vibration! Neither when lost or acquired, there was never anything. The test on the dialog works, so it's not a hardware problem. Could you please check that?
Thx, as always, especially for the quick reply! :)

Oki, understand. Check new version 3.6.0 (release will be on 99% tomorrow).
