Gps switching off during Track recording

Udo Joester shared this question 5 years ago
Answered

Gps switches off during Track recording after about thirty seconds. I checked the settings: keeping power on is enabled for Track recording..

In the Smartphone's power management locus Maps is also allowed to use energy in background mode.

Using the app in normal Navigation Mode does not switch off the gps.

Hi Udo,

- check twice Locus Map is properly excluded from ALL means of battery optimization, see https://dontkillmyapp.com

- go to Locus settings > GPS&sensors and check if GPS auto off is switched on. If yes, switch it off

- go to Locus settings > GPS&sensors > Google Services assisted location > switch it ON.

Same problem. I tried the fix above but problem remains. When screen goes off stops tracking, when look at it again finds position and connects to previous position when screen on with a straight line - highly inaccurate!

Yesterday i have installed custom ROM Pixel experience Android Pie on xiaomi redmi 4x. I have the same problem with locus maps and google maps. I've backuped grom stock Nogaut and restored configuration. Locus and google maps are not working on bacground on Pie on battery saving mode.

I also experienced this and almost gone mad at new Locus version (I've been using an old ver for years on my old phone and it was great), until I found out that this behaviour is OS related. If we use power saving mode, GPS will be turned off when screen turns off. Well, this sucks a lot more as we seem to have no way of customizing the power saving mode. When we are on the terrain we are committed to waste precious battery power just to let navigation programs use GPS with screen off for track recording or - what's more obvious - to receive navigation instructions. Well, this is a horrific frog to swallow, it seems we are victims of OS developers stupid thinking. I wish my old OS back, where everything worked as one would expect...

Okay, got it running again: changed several energy settings in my Galaxy Phone and track recording works again (only tested with screen on).

Thx for the support

Hi,

on some devices, it is not enough to change one optimization setting. It is necessary to exclude Locus Map from ALL means of such optimization.

best regards

Since Android Oreo with mode battery save app in background battery mode can't use GPS. In Android Pie there is no other option except turn off battery save mode.

here are a lot of useful tips for battery optimization set up: https://dontkillmyapp.com/

I have locus with option without optimization. It's not work

Hmm... I had no optimization and it didn't work. Now I've performance and it probably work nice.
