GPX files

Solved

Hello !

I always export my tracks in GPX, and import them on a software installed my computer.

No problem before the latest update. Now I can't import the gpx file anymore (an error occurs).

When I try with older files, it works well.

I tried with the tcx files, and it's OK, so no worries for me.

But it's just to let you know that there might be an issue with the gpx files exported from Locus.

Everything else works fine for me !!

All the best,

Romain

Good day Romain,

I'm not aware of any problem with GPX so I'll need more information from you, that helps to simulate same problem.

Do you have same track exported with previous version of Locus Map (that works) and same track with new Locus Map (that do not work), so I may compare them? You wrote that import fails ... but what error you see? Also which program you use? Whatevery info may be helpful here, thanks.

Hi Menion,

I use "basecamp", a garmin software.

I can import the first track (2016-03-26_07-00-48.gpx). But not the second one (2016-03-26_07-00-48b.gpx).

I attached both files (just replace ".txt" by ".gpx").

Unfortunetly, the error in basecamp is "Erreur inconnue lors de l'ouverture du fichier", which means

"Unknown error when opening the file".

I'm affraid that won't help a lot...

The only significant difference is that "b" file contains <time< item after <trk>.

I am not sure if it is wrong syntax or if the SW just does not expect.

  1. <trk>
  2. <time>2016-03-26T00:00:49Z</time>

Correct. Only Garmin software Mapsource and Basecamp seems to have a problem with this line. Delete = accepted.

Thanks, this is what I need to hear. Issue found and will be fixed in next version. Sorry for complications and thanks for help with solving. Crazy Garmin software ...

No real complications for me, and I discovered the existence of TCX files thanks to this little issue.

I still don't know the difference with GPX, but it's always good to learn new things !

As always, I'm amazed at the Locus community's reactivity !

By the way, we've just crossed the 30 000km line, and Locus is still tracing our way.

Thanks a lot,

The Karoutcho Team.

Both files imported into Furkot.

It's not a surprise. Software from Garmin are the only one I ever met, which completely decline to import anything with tiny "mistake". In this case, there is a tag on a place, where is not allowed by it's specification. Well ... all apps don't care, except ...

Sorry... :) That's the only offline software I know to import and manage my GPX files...

If you know another free one, I'm interested !

Thanks again.
