GPX route broken on import track.
Not a Problem
A GPX route generated by the Suunto Movescount application (see link below) displays correctly on all GPX display applications I have tried.
I am using the file file to test the "off-road" directions capability of LocusMap -- my need is NOT "follow roads" navigation. I need to follow trails, but with waypoints telling me when to turn left or right when two off-road trails intersect.
The attachment link does not appear to work. A link to the file is

Hi Jean-François,
with your link above I downloaded a file with .txt-ending. After renaming to .gpx import to Locus was fine. Maybe this could be a Dropbox thing?

Dropbox has nothing to do with this. LocusMap has no problem locating and importing the file. The problem is that it *processes* the file during import. The path is a closed loop, and after import it is broken. See first screenshot below for the result -- the real path takes a left turn before arriving at "Parc Villeret" and there is *no* detour next to the crosshairs in the original path, this is something LocusMap "invents". The second screenshot below shows the correct path.
Second screenshot: the path as designed in Suunto Movescount.com (and as shown on all other applications I have tried, gpsvisualizer, gpsies, easygps, etc.)

Hi,
your first post was very unspecific so I couldn´t guess the right problem.
Now I can see in Locus the imported track from Dropbox has no plus segments like in your first screenshot. It is the same as in your second screenshot.

I have removed all my tracks, all my routes, reset to factory default, uninstalled LocusMap, reinstalled it, used the android application manager to clear all data, and no matter what I do, when I start the application at my home location, there is a route visible on the map, as shown below. This is exactly the extra data I see on my route (and which explains why everything is fine for you).
I don't see anywhere I can delete this route data -- all the menus under "Data" are empty. Other ideas ?
Help -- how do I get rid of this stuff...

open details of your visible track with click on green dot, is there a "arrow right button" similar my screenshot?
And if, click on it to see the folder where track is stored

Latest problem: End an eventual navigation (tick purple line), then click on the track (with the blue dots) -> select hide or delete. = Cleared. Pse see also..the knowledge base/manual. As Locus is in very active (new) development not all is documented and perfectly up to date in this manual ;-)
Hi, the example gpx (rte) route shows up correctly. Seems this example file is not "off road" so not running over "unmapped" paths ;-) Locus does not support route (rte) navigation function. Route (rte) guiding result is not the optimal format if to be used for real off road drives, following unmapped paths.
As such route (rte) navigation depends on the (map) quality in your mobile unit ! A design program result and real Navigation experience, can be completely different by using different (routable) maps !
From what I observe in your first picture the original "route" (rte) design is shown on the map, but for Locus this is only a "painted map" showing up without extra (navigation) functionality.
The second path I observe is a new navigation track on top of that original route generated by Locus Navigation. Probably you used the Locus function: "Navigate to". = From your actual position (your position circle) towards the target (nearest road) that shows up around the "center cross". Locus will navigate you by following the shortest path. The used navigation instructions are integrated into the tick blue dots. Hoover a blue dot over the map center cross and read the instructions.
Design: Use Locus function "Add new route and measure" and export result as a .tcx track (to share). The tcx file format allows "off road" navigation, even functional without any map background. (blank map).
(For Locus to Locus exchanges/sharing you can also export the result as track gpx 1.1)
Design alternatives: Export in .tcx file format !
Online:"Ride with gps"etc.
Offline: Garmin Basecamp or Mapsource. (Mapsource: export as .gdb and convert to .tcx using JaVaWaRTWtool)
attached .zip with .tcx file.
A design by Ride with Gps (pc). Import the tcx file in Locus, click on the track -> select Navigation (In general Navigation settings-> global, do not select autorecalculate !)

Hi guys,
not sure if I'm needed here anymore as most was already said by KaHeMu, balloni and 0709. Just ... nothing in Locus happen "created automatically" ... so there have to be any reason, probably as 0709 wrote, how was this track created.
