High data usage on Pre-load Global map for offline maps

Hi, i am travelling through Europe by bus and was looking up my position occasionally. I have the above feature switched on, and the chosen map was the first OSM map.

During a few hours I gathered 1.1 GB of background data usage. How is this possible? I haven't experienced this before. I have switched off background data usage after this...

Thanks!

Hi,

pre-loading of global map means that Locus pre-loads selected online map from internet and uses its upper zooms as a preview map for offline vector maps (e.g. LoMap) for speeding up their rendering.

Hi, Thanks, I knew the feature and was using it with success before. My question is rather if it was possible that this feature causes high data volume usage in the background.

Kind regards,

Balázs

Hi,

I discussed this issue with the main developer and he admitted that you are a third user who's reported this behavior. Our dev team is searching for the cause of it but so far in vain. We'd appreciate if you answered a few questions:

- did you use online maps when you noticed the data drain?

- did you use online routing service, like e.g. GraphHopper?

- did you use any other online service like live tracking or online geocache logging?

- what type of phone do you use? What version of Android OS?

Thanks

Hi,

I think I was using solely offline maps (openandromaps). When zoooming out I noticed that it was struggling to load the preview. I thoght it was due to the changing network coverage. Sometimes I switched to the wi-fi but it wasn't much better either. (Long distance bus.)

I frequently switched to other apps.

No routing service or other online service.

Let me know if I can help in any other way!

Good day,

thanks for the additional information about this problem. To be true, you are the third user that wrote us during the last half year, that app consumed too much data. Unfortunately, we are still unable to find out the real reason why this may happen, but will definitely try to do some tests and find out more about it.

Sorry for these troubles. Were you able to finish your travel with the remaining data?

Thanks and nice and safe travels!
