Higher audio priority for navigation instructions
Hi there,
when I am running I use three apps at the same time with an audio-output:
- Locus pro (for navigation instructions)
- Runtastic (for sports tracking, sound output of the pace and distance every 5 minutes)
- Player Pro (for music)
When Runtastic (pace and distance) has an audio output the music of player pro is muted. That's nice, so I can hear the output of Runtastic clearly.
But there is a problem when Locus pro and Runtastic have an audio output at the same time, because Runtastic has actually a higher audio priority than Locus pro, even if the Locus pro app is in the foreground and Runtastic app is in the background. So Runtastic mutes Locus pro and I can't hear important navigation instructions.
I would welcome one of this three behaviors, because navigation instructions from Locus Pro are more important for me than the output from Runtastic:
- Same audio priority of Locus pro Runtastic (so I can hear both apps at the same time)
- Locus Pro should be able to turn Runtastic quieter
- Locus Pro should be able to mute Runtastic (my favourite)
Sorry for my bad english.
Are you able to understand my request?
What do you think about this topic?
Best regards,
Andi
Hello Andi,
in worst case, you English is as good as mine, so no worry :). Understand perfectly.
I'm anyway quite suprised that something like this happen. I wanted to say, that I never heard about priorities in Android audio output. Locus currently have set, that when some message is said (navigation order), all other sounds should have lower volume till Locus speak.
And unfortunately, I cannot find any information about this, any way how to increase priority of speach in one app. Interesting that Runtastic do something like this, because I expect that app that started speak as last one, has highest priority...

Hello,
thanks for your reply.
I am going to ask the runtastic support and maybe on xda-developers about this topic.
I will keep you up to date.

Andi

Ah if you're able to do it, it should be very welcome. I'll try also to check if there isn't any information about priority of sounds in Android. So far, I wasn't able to find anything ... really interesting :)

Menion or Andy. Do practical test.
Latest Locus can use or Media stream or Notification stream now. Maybe Runtastic is only muting one of both ?

Hi, thanks for your reply. How can I change the audio stream of Locus?

Very similar idea to this one ... http://help.locusmap.eu/topic/can_locus_turn_down_the_volume_of_a_media_player_when_give_an_audio_navigation_instruction . Is it already working for you?
