Highway exit numbers in Road style

A friend of mine has raised this suggestion :
"Why not to have - at least in road styles - highway exit numbers ? " . He considers it as an essential info for drivers.
For inspiration, they are displayed e.g. in MapyCZ application even for non CZ/SK maps, where OSM based maps are used.

I can remember that I wanted to add the exit numbers about one or two years ago. I hope that I remember it correctly, but the mapsforge map format doesn't define "ref" tag for nodes (only four ways). For this reason should not be possible to display the exit numbers. I say "should not be" because I can imagine some workaround how to modify the source data during map generation (for example to use house:number to keep this value). Definitely planned idea.
