How can I search using a UK postcode, please?
Answered
I've tried the search engines in Locus but can't figure out how to use the UK postcode to find an address. I think it must be possible as when I have created a point Locus readily fills in the appropriate postcode so already holds the data. Please help. Thanks
Hi Les,
Locus Map uses search engines when looking for addresses - Google, MapQuest or Bing. Depends on your preferences and settings. Google is default. Therefore, not "Locus readily fills in the appropriate postcode" but Google service (or MapQuest/Bing) does. Locus Map doesn't hold any data. Searching UK postcodes works the same as in those services - put the postcode in the address search field, the service returns a point somewhere in the middle of the city/town/village with the postcode and displays it on map.

Hi Michal, thanks for the response. That's interesting. I'm new to Locus (and Android phone too).
The options I've got in Locus Pro for search are: 'Address & Place', 'Move to', 'Contact', 'By Name', 'Search full text', 'By coordinates'. 'Wikipedia', 'Google Places', 'GeoNames and GNS', and'Localised photo'.
I've tried using the postcode in the options that I thought may return the address I was after without success. I must be doing something wrong although I've read through the parts of the user manual without seeing what I've missed. Can you give an idiots guide please?

I've just tested to put HR1 2NA (I've got a friend in Hereford) in the "Address&Place" field and Locus Map Pro took me there, i.e. made a temporary point on the spot of the map. No tricks, no mysteries, no idiots guide needed :)

Michal,
That's great. I did the same and it worked perfectly as it did with my own postcode. I can't fault that, but I'm perplexed to know what I was doing wrong before. Never mind. I'll chalk another one up to user error!. Thank you. Regards.

Les, you're welcome! Have a nice day with Locus :)
