How do you deal with the wealth of map types?

Hi!

When I select in Locus Map the menu item maps > online maps, I count 20 main categories of maps (OSM - Outdoor; OSM - Other; 4UMaps etc etc), and many of those categories have 2 or more sub-categoriers. So, there's a wealth of maps to choose from. Free or with charge, none, few or many tiles at once available for offline download etc etc. It takes ages to click through all descriptions, to identify which are free or not etc. And then you would have to test it...

Question: Did anyone go through the effort to compile a useful summary of these maps so that one could get a good and informed overview about their main characteristics? Maybe in some printable form? Or links to websites where the maps are described? Thank you very much for any hint!

Hi,

well I can understand you but on the other hand this list is probably typical attribute of Locus Map application - multi functional app. A lot of features, possibilities and .... maps. Honestly we reduced list of online maps last month. The maps that remain in list are often used by users and we can not afford to simply "remove" them.

Summary page is good idea but unfortunately there isn't such page right now.

Thank you for understanding

Petr

Hi Petr, thanks for your compassionate comment :-) However, so I will

have to go through it all and test and check. Just to minimize any

misunderstanding: I did not ask for a reduction of the maps on the list -

I only hoped for some sort of summary to make the process of choosing

more efficient. In any case: I enjoy your app a lot, especially because

of the many features and possibilities! So keep going! Cheers, Xolile33

Hello Xolile33,

maybe one small suggestion to make life easier. In map manager > online tap, in top panel is button that allows to change order of maps, not just by some our internal logic, but also by type of activity or country. It may reduce list because of some type, you are not interested in.
