Add more settings options for notification center

This is about the IN-APP notifications, not the ones on system bar.

Having that round button come up every now and then is annoying. Then I need to go in and delete all to clear the list, which then hides tge button.

The problem i see are:

1. I need to make extra taps to hide a thing i never wanted in the first place

2. It uses data to fetch those notifications i dont want (updates, store updates, etc)

3. Same as with successful autobackup - I don't need to be notifed that gpx was autoexported successfully. I expect it did unless it didn't.

4. I have no control over what showes up in that notif center, i still could use some but disable the others. Especially those which need the net i would love to disable.

5.recently even deleting the notification in notif center doesnt help - the info about some updates waiting for me in store keep on showing up. WTF, do i have to go to check them out just to untick some flag?

6. As an invasive feature as it is a good example of how you guys could improve your development process - its by including the users into decision making, designing or just asking to screen your ideas. After all we're actually using and caring for your project - seems like a no brainer to simply ask before than hotfix it later (like the zoomgate we're having now - who came up with that brilliant idea???)

Hi Bartek,

Ad No. 6.: you probably have no clue about:

- Locus beta testing (https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:about:free_beta_testing) with more than 2000 participants

- extensive communication between developers and users about app changes - planned, developed, published on Locus Forum - about 7500 active members (https://forum.locusmap.eu).

- community around Locus helpdesk where we collect users' ideas and votes for their implementation. Even this idea of yours has to be voted for by other users before we start to think about implementing it.

The "zoomgate" was intensively tested for two months. Unfortunately, there are so many map types and formats that not even that prevented us from some unwanted side effects of implementing the new map core.

Hi Michal,

Yeah, I was not aware about the community process. Thanks for pointing that out.

And sorry for venting like this. It was late, just updated the app and seen all the minor fixes for various types of maps related to the zoom change. BTW I was surprised at first that increase map resolution did not behave as usual, but I actually prefer it like it is now - the view doesn't change just the elements get bigger.

But the case remains, that notification center needs some tweaks to have more control over what shows up there. I appreciate the change of title and category of the the ticket, but it's not and idea or suggestion. If the app does connect to the Internet to fetch notifications - just because I might be connected at that moment - and leaves me no control over this behavior, then I see this as a bug. Imagine I'm abroad with limited dataplan - until i'm in airplane mode I'm fine, but then I connect to fetch emails, and while I'm using Locus with offline maps and brouter it would still connect, right? As far as i know, there is not setting to turn that off, just a setting to disable promo notifications - but it would still connect. A setting for using only Wifi, but that's only for uploading the exports. Then the setting for using only cached data from online maps, but obviously that's not it either.

Then there is also the inconsistency with some notifications about successful operation appearing as toasts (like clear cache) vs. GPX auto export - this is an UX inconsistency in my opinion. And personally I lean towards using toasts in those situations - only warnings or errors should be permanent for user to hve a chance to see and react.

Hi Bartek,

- annoying update notifications - you're right. The everyday notifications were caused by a new Google service for periodic updates that proved to be unreliable. We tweaked it so the update check will be performed just once a month - update your Locus to 3.38.3. If even that is annoying and data consuming, you can always ban Locus from using mobile data in your phone system.

- UX inconsistency of notifications as a whole - we know about it and we give it some thought from time to time. There's always something to be improved.
