Refresh (manual/automatic) of WMS map tiles?

Gathering feedback

I am using WMS service to overlay a radar map to a street map. The WMS service that I am using is a weather radar service that shows precipitation. I found that seems to never update to the screen. The only way it will update it if I go into the service and deselect and then select again. And sometimes certain levels will hold previous image of the radar map. Is there any automated way to have Locus Pro update radar map like every 5 minutes or so?

Good day Paul,

unfortunately this is currently not possible. No automatic system and unfortunately even no manual system for clearing cache of WMS maps exists. Because I believe that such feature may be useful (at least manual refresh) to more people, I've changed your quest to idea, so other may votes in case of interest.

Much thanks for your consideration, many weather mapping applications have real-time updates showing weather changes. Having disability in Locust will greatly expand its functionality. Hopefully people will find this of usefulness and the programming will not be too hard.

I'm also using a radar overlay and need one to get updated! Thanks!

Having the same problem here. The first idea for WMS was a rain radar and flashes, fortunately after a long research I found one which refreshes every 5 minutes. But this makes no sense if there is no overlay refresh :(

Halo Wolfgang,
kannst du die Karte Regenradar mal teilen. Währe auch hilfreich wenn der Entwickler es testen will. Kann Locus dann auch gleich als Werbung benutzen.

Yes sure I can - I already have them sent to the public library - just waiting for approval.

Here you can have them directly:

They probably only cover Germany

All DWD layers: https://maps.dwd.de/geoserver/ows?SERVICE=WMS&

Only Flash layer: https://maps.dwd.de/geoserver/dwd/Blitzdichte/ows?service=WMS&version=1.3.0&request=GetCapabilities

Only Rainradar layer: https://maps.dwd.de/geoserver/dwd/Niederschlagsradar/ows?service=WMS&version=1.3.0&request=GetCapabilities

You can build your single layer WMNS Url with this one: https://maps.dwd.de/geoserver/web/?18
