WMS layers are often updated regularly. I have some that are even updated twice a day at predefined and known hours.
I have noticed sometimes that a WMS layer was updated only after applying the reset into the WMS menu, meaning that if i don't really care, the informations delivered by the layer could be false.
If i'm not wrong, this is probably the result of using a cache for WMS ? Is it ?
If it is the case, could we imagine to add an option into the WMS settings to define a period for deleting the cache and reload the tiles from the WMS server ?
For example :
A layer is uptated twice a day, at 08:00 and at 16:00.
Into the WMS Locus layer menu, a setting : updating_period = 8 hours
When the user select the WMS layer to display it but also during the use of the WMS layer, if Locus see actual_date_time > (cache_date_time + updating_period) then Locus delete tile cache and reload tiles before displaying the WMS layer.
Cheers,
Fifi
PS : @Menion : promised, that's my last idea ... for the next 24 hours ;)
Good day Paul,
unfortunately this is currently not possible. No automatic system and unfortunately even no manual system for clearing cache of WMS maps exists. Because I believe that such feature may be useful (at least manual refresh) to more people, I've changed your quest to idea, so other may votes in case of interest.

I'm also using a radar overlay and need one to get updated! Thanks!

Having the same problem here. The first idea for WMS was a rain radar and flashes, fortunately after a long research I found one which refreshes every 5 minutes. But this makes no sense if there is no overlay refresh :(
