How can I convert *.gmap files to vector maps?
Answered
I own a topo map in gmap format which I would like to use in Locus Pro.
Is there a tool (browser-based or Mac-compatible) that allows me to convert a gmap file to a vector map?
Thanks in advance!
Chris
Hi
I suggest that this is not possible or if it’s possible then it’ll be very tricky. Locus is able to work with old with files in old *.img format but still this is an experimental (non-official) feature. So the question is if it’s possible to convert gmap to img format. Maybe it could be possible to import gmap via MapSource/Basecamp to the old garmin device and then obtain img file from device. This is only my idea and also this is not the official way. And I guess that Garmin license probably prohibits it.
