Hello Scott,

this is a feature, that currently took me most time. We started to work (around a month ago) on this. More precisely on new version of Locus - "Locus GIS" which will be based mainly on support of ShapeFiles.

for now, I cannot promise any specific time for public version, but I`m sure that till February/March will be available some testing versions and hope that during middle of next year will be available version on Google Play

Menion,

Thanks for that info. I would like to ask where you guys are with the production & testing of Locus GIS?? WE, our Company, are using Locus currently for our 911 Address Mapping Project here in Louisiana; it has streamlined our workflow and cut down on costs tremendously all while incurring a much safer implementation for our field work.

If you need BETA Testers for Locus GIS, I would be happy to aid you guys, etc.

Thank you.

Hello Scott,

Locus GIS will be probably available during Q2/2014. Anyway we`re looking for users whose want to take part in beta testing (probably during May 2014). So I`m glad for your offer. Please email me how to contact you on our email: locus@asamm.com

Feel free to add some detailed information about your project and company: What you want to achieve and which features would be important for you. It`s quite important to know who are or who will be our users.

Thank you

Petr

Peter,

We are a small company using Locus Map Pro as a GIS application. We are also interested in testing the beta version of Locus GIS.

Currently we convert shapefiles to KMZ and it actually works quite well.

What is the chance of purchasing this application for our private use Not for Resale. We want to brand the application again for our private use only.

Hello Ricky,

thanks for interest in Locus GIS. Honestly we haven't decided about purchase model for Locus GIS. Howerver we'll prepare first beta version during June, which will be available for free. I'll email you as soon as beta version will be available.

Petr,

Thanks for the quick response. Slight changes in development of Locus Pro, which is great, could have an unforeseen impact on our workflow. We need our on version to maintain continuity. As you well no Locus Pro cannot be backed up and saved as an APK. If a new version is rolled out and the changes do not work for us we are unable to roll back to a previous version. Do you have previous versions available if such a request were made?

Looking forward to testing the Locus GIS version. Please let me know if there is anything we can do to help.

Regards,

Ricky Pitts

Dear Petr,

if you wish I will be happy to do beta testing of Locus GIS as well. We are a nature conservation and drinking water company located in the Netherlands. I do have quite some experience with GIS in the field, e.g. ESRI's Arcpad. I am also prepared to suggest possible functionalities.

I feel like I need to chime in, here.

Giving users (I am a very happy Pro user) the option to use or purchase the ability to import/export shp files would add functionality that would intensely attract MANY mapping professionals.

PLEASE continue researching this functionality, and, I would more than happily become part of your beta test team!!
