Import maps from Oruxmaps (google format yes, Ign format no)

Institut shared this problem 7 years ago
Not a Problem

Hello,

To migrate to Locus Map, I want to import the maps I use on Oruxmaps.

By "downloading external maps", I migrated a Google map(.db, .db-journal, .xml)

This map is then in the "Offline" - "MAPFILES" folder and I can actually display it.

I also have maps in IGN format (succession of folders for each level, each comprising a subfolder "Set" (tiles) and an .xml file

Locus Map accepts the migration of the map wich is in the list of "External Cards" such as the Google map.

However, this same map does not appear in the list of "offline cards" and so I can not display it.

Do you have an explanation ?

Thanks

Good day Institut,

maps supported by Locus Map are wrote here: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:maps_external#supported_map_formats

OruxMaps based maps ( db, otrk2 files ) are probably recognized correctly.

IGN format is unknown to me and probably also to Locus Map app. How is this format created? Is it used by more applications then just OruxMaps?

Hello Menion,

Actually, these are somewhat distant memories that date back to when I was using a Gps Garmin. I believe these maps match with the Garmin format that Oruxmaps knows how to import. That being said, it does not matter since I can recreate them quite easily with locus download tools. Question of time and patience

Hello,

hmm understand. Locus Map already support few similar formats of map tiles stored directly in directories. Do you please some small map in this so called IGN format? I would like to look at it first, thanks.

Good day Institut,

thanks for a map. Unfortunately this is already supported format of maps from Oruxmaps application. I've tried your map ( placed into Locus/maps directory ) and it works without any problems.

I thought you have a problem with different format?

Hello

So sorry, it was a mistake. The map I gave you was a Google format and not an Ign one.

Here is the good one

The file seems too big to be transfered.

Good day,

thank you for a file! It seems that José ( developer of Orux ) use here similar system as to DB map files. So every layer has defined own configuration with calibration parameters, that needs to be used for correct placing of the map.

I may add support for this kind of map, but it looks like quite a lot of work and because it is not some globally used map format, but "only" format that may be created over OruxMaps application, I have to say sorry. Thanks for understanding.

Hi Menion,

I agree with you. It is not a subject of first importance because it is possible to create the same map with the function of Locus. It will be slower only. Best regards
