Import photo file in locus
Hi, if this question is already answered or discussed earlier maybe some of you can point me in that direction.
I wonder if its possible to import a file with pictures that works together with a gpx file?
Here is my thoughts of what i would like to do:
I have an gpx file with about 3000 pois, for every poi in the gpx there is a link to a picture that is placed in a separate file. it was designed to work with poiloader for my garmin.
Now i will try to get the pictures to be shown in locus, the gpx file locus can handle and read wery good, and when i look under "attatchments" i can see the name of the picture.
But the pictures in my file are placed in alot of subfolders in a system and i can only see the pictures name and not the complete serie of links to it.
Anybody that can recognise what i am trying to say or is there someone here that now a way to import pictures to a certain gpx file?
best regards jocke :)
Hi,
one additional question:
inlude your pictures geoinfos, are they geotagged?
If so, i have an idea ;-))

No, i am afraid they are not geotagged.
But to be honest i am not really sure how geotagging is working, almost all the pictures comes from different photographers and i guess that geotagging is something that the camera take care of.
I think you will notice there is a black hole in my knowledge about geotagging.

Pictures can be geotagged by different ways ;-))
- if you take e.g. a POI photo within locus, and you have satfix, locus do that
- some androidcameras also able to do this, providing also satfix
- or on PC with http://www.geosetter.de/
But make a short test, perhaps you have luck and some of them are geotagged
Store the photos on your device or SD card, start locus and navigate to:
Menue/search/localized photo/select directory/select photos/screwdriver/import selected.
If photos are geotagged you will see them in step "select photos"

Thanks, i will give it a try.
If the test is positive its possible i go for it, if i have to geotag all of the pictures manually i must think it thru again to see if i can get motivated enough to get started.

Solved, but i dont know exactly how.
A friend of mine did the job for me and wrote a image search link to pictures in my Gpx file,
Gpx, icon and the file with almost 3000 pictures was placed in a folder and then it was compressed.
Locus had no problems to import the files and the pictures is placed under the description for each poi.
As i said, i dont really know the details around how the picture url:s was moved in the file but i am happy right now. :)

Maybe some more words for others about how it works: GPX can contain HTML tags in <desc> tags. So you can place your images where you want and then write correct relative path that start in Locus/data/import.
However the better way is to create *zip file that contain GPX file and also the images. See example in attached file testPOIs.zip
- So copy this file somewhere into your device:
- Start Locus > Menu > Import > select file testPOIs.zip > and submit the import
