Improve display of long track and map names

Andrew Heard shared this idea 8 years ago

Just a cosmetic suggestion to improve the look of aspects of Locus: in the map download and track edit screens, when the text is too long to be fully displayed, it is currently scrolled from right to left, then abruptly shifted back to display the start again. It's jarring to view. I think there is a mode called Marquee where the text simply scrolls back and forth, so equal time displaying text at BOTH ends . Again, just minor idea.

Good day Andrew,

I'm suprised it works for you in this way. On my device, text scroll to left but when I see end of text, few pixels later appear start of text. So like never-ending moving text in one direction. I've added one more parameter that should help to force this behavior in all cases. Maybe it helps, maybe not. Anyway if not, there I see only possibility to create own component for this title and program this marquee on my own. This should take some time and I think that this feature do not worth it :). Thanks for understanding.

Misunderstanding. Your current description is also my observation. The text flicks back to the start. Quite annoying but agree not worth coding.

Actually I notice in latest versions you have changed the scrolling behavior. I think it is a nice improvement. Thanks. Maybe done in other places too. For example the track name in screen capture below (green text) is too long to display and is nicely scrolled. However it leads to another question:- the track name is displayed in two places - one is redundant? Why not scroll the top line and eliminate the second one to save space?62485535102450f9baadcf9a92bcf46d

Hmm so small change I made helped, nice to hear it.

And suggestion ... even if I remove text in green field, size of mp should remain same, so there is no save space. Anyway I have some improvements for this screen in head, so ... later.
