Is there a way to get around the "Additional data required" download every time I update?

It's gotten me a few times now. I'd forgotten I updated Locus, went to open it somewhere with no signal/wifi, and awwwwwwwwww... can't use it because I need that 5MB file again. Does that data change that often? Can I keep a backup of the file in an alternate location then restore it? Is there maybe a way that it could be wrapped in to the APK to save this extra step?

I absolutely love Locus, but this is kinda frustrating.

Hello Chris,

only to be sure. Does it happen every-time when you UPDATE Locus? It should happen only if you mannualy uninstall and then install app again.

Yes, it seems to happen when I update. The app was working fine on my phone a week ago, but after updating over the weekend it's asking for me to download the data again. I'm pretty sure that the other times it has done this was after an update as well.

Maybe this behaviour is now also (in a positive way) impacted by the code change done via this topic:

This is a very annoying feature.

I did a long trip this weekend over 30 hours of MTB and had a backup phone with me.

Backup phone, with all Locus, maps and track loaded, did a silent upgrade over wifi at home.

When I needed the backup phone it did not work, because it wanted to download 5mb of data !!!

Backup phone useless. Remember, a lot of time we use these android phones where there is no connection.

It should always work.

Happy user for many years.

Hi Willem,

sorry for a troubles, but this should not happen if you successfully used Locus on that device before. Or it was just a fresh installation of Locus, that was not yet used in the field?

It worked before. I checked it two days earlier by making a small trip and using two phones to record the data.

Luckily it was the same phone and I could switch batteries to solve the issue :)
