I believe the list of options that can be added to quick switch should be much wider.

deeply interested in

- hide all panels if inactive - turning on/off

- disable GPS when screen is off - turning on/off

Good day Katerina,

I've changed your question to idea, so others may vote if are interested in such settings.

I personally do not think that these settings are something, you need to change often and fast, that's why they are missing in "Quick switch", may let's see who more will be interested.

What means "hide all panels if inactive" ?

and about "disable GPS..."

have a look to "GPS auto off"

thanks for your comments.

both settings are rather crutial for me:

usually I appreciate hidden panels but reactivate them when holding phone in one hand is beyond my skills (i use google style control and need to touch the screen with three fingers...)

gps auto off is exactly the setting i need to switch - in low signal areas (deep forests) I have to wait for minutes to gps fix after turning on the screen - there for I would prefer not to disable it (but not allways due to huge battery drain)

Anyway quick switch panel is highly customisable so these options wont bother anyone. I really do believe the list may be wider

not clear for me.

How do you want to activate hidden panels?

...and "gps auto off" already exists in the quick switch panel.

i've spent last few weeks testing the"gps auto off" feature. So far it seems this might work. However there is one thing that bothers me - it doesn't switch off automatically when recording a track (and i didn't found any option to do so). If I forget toturn it off manually the track record is useless (as i've set a long interval between gps updates). is this a desirable behavior?

p.s. I am still interested in quick switch option to controle hidding of the pannels.

Hello Katerina,

GPS auto-off feature currently has highest priority. This means, when it's enabled, it works always.

You may see small "clock icon" on GPS icon on main screen when this feature is enabled. This may helps to check it faster then in settings.

thanks for your reply. Do you plan to integrate any related option into "gps auto-off" settings? I would appreciate to turn it off automatically while recording...

Don't get me wrong the "clock icon" is a great idea and I like it very much but still I'm pretty forgetfull and lazy:-)

Hi Menion and gynta,

I'd like to support Katerina's idea for the GPS auto off. Let's see if I can make clear why.

I basically have these usage cases:

1) just checking my position on a map occasionally, not moving much: I want the GPS to be enabled only when the screen is on and Locus is active.

1b) same as before, but satellites' coverage is bad and/or I am moving a lot. In this case I also want the GPS to try to switch on at intervals when screen is off, so that I am not too far from the last position every time it tries to re-acquire lock.

2) I am recording a track, so i want the GPS to stay always on while recording.

3) In all the previous cases, when I first get to a new place, or haven't activated the GPS for a while, it may take a long time for the GPS to get a fix. I want it to keep trying without the need for the screen to be on (darining the battery)

Right now, I have to set this option in the various cases:

1) "Disable when hidden" ON, "GPS auto off" OFF

1b) "Disable when hidden" ON, "GPS auto off" ON

2) "Disable when hidden" doesn't matter, "GPS auto off" OFF

3) "Disable when hidden OFF"

As you can see, I do need to activate/deactivate the "Disable when hidden" ON feature quite often, so it would be great to have it in the quick switch panel.

I also like the idea of an option that can make the "track recording" automatically disable the "GPS auto off". It's not only a matter of convenience, it's a matter of being "fail-proof": I do know what every time I record a trip, I really want to record it in detail, with no "GPS auto off", so having to remember to always disable "GPS auto off" when I start recording exposes me to the risk of forgetting and then loosing valuable trackpoints...

I'd also like to conclude be noting that these options would not modify an existing behavior of Locus, but just add optional functionalities, so there is no harm in implementing them (except the development time, of course)
