KML display issue on a specific device

I have an issue with a KML file I am using for work. The issue is partly specific to a particular users phone. There are three of us using this KML which shows land ownership and we have tried it on a total of 6 devices using the same and current version of Locus Pro. The devices are 3 Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S8, and a Garmin Monterra. If you look at the screenshots attached you should be able to see the issue. This only shows up on one of the Galaxy S6 devices but none of the others.

On the shapefile that this was extracted from actually cuts these parcels so there is no data in there. When I created the KML, google earth displays it the same way but when I put it in Locus, it is filling in that space with the color of the feature that it falls within. I am wondering if this is because Google Earth treats them as polygons and Locus treats them as a track or line feature. You can see that Locus is layering these features on top of the yellow feature by looking at the feature in the center of the screen which should be white. It has a yellow tint to it. Also, the feature toward the bottom left is supposed to be blue but it is green. The blue feature to the bottom right is blue as well but is displaying correctly because the yellow feature ends there. This is not a huge deal if the KML layers the white and blue features on top of the yellow one but for some reason that is not the case on this one particular device. So, I am hoping you might have some insight as to why it is not correct on this device. We are all running the same version of Android and the same version of Locus Pro. It may be worth noting that if I import the KML into a tracks folder, it works like it should but it does not if it is only displayed.

Thanks for your help

Dear Brandon,

thank you for request. Is it possible for you to send me small area as KML file. I need to see the row KML data to check how would Locus display it. I'd like to also mention:

1. The best way how to "import" KML/KMZ files is feature Map Items. Copy the files to the folder /Locus/mapItems and then display it via Menu > More > Map Items. For more info please see: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:items

2. I'd like to inform you about our second app called Locus GIS. This app can directly display and edit the SHP file. Maybe would be interesting for you. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=menion.android.locus.gis

Thank you

Best regards

Petr,

Thanks for the reply. I personally have been a beta tester for Locus GIS but for now, I encourage everyone that I work with or associate with to use Locus Maps due to it's simplicity. As for proper loading of the KML files, that is how we are loading them. Everything is copied into the Map Items folder.

I have attached the KML file in question as well as a KML point file that you can use to navigate to the place that is shown in the pictures. Let me know what you find out. It just seems strange that that KML works on all the other devices like is should except one of the Galaxy S6 phones.

Thanks again for your help.

Dear Petr,

thank you for KMZ file but it's quite huge. Is it possible for you to export/convert smaller area? For example the same area as is shown on your first screenshots?

Thank you

Sorry Petr. So, I exported a smaller copy of the area in question and it displays just fine on that phone now. Not sure exactly what that means and why the other file wont display correctly on other devices of the same model. If I need to cut down that file I can but we do cover a very large area and it would be nice to have one file for our coverage area. I've attached that clipped copy. Let me know what your thoughts are.

Just an update. I had the user clear app data, uninstall, and reinstall the app. Set the app back up how the user wanted it layout wise and loaded the maps and map items. It works just like it should now. I guess it was an issue with the install. Thanks again for your help Petr.
