Kmz open problem

I have a 8mb kmz-file with 42 jpg images in the maps folder. It does not show in Maps - Personal, I allways have to use Import - Local File, and then it works fine, but I have to do this every time I open Locus, and I have to close Locus to get another map. Is this howe it is supposed to be, or is it something to do with the kmz. I have the Pro.

Did you try to copy this kmz file into Map Items?

Travelling to Zimbabwe on monday I would like this to work better!

Hello Einar,

can you provide your kmz file with e.g. dropbox?

Or is it secret

Perfect, i got it per dropbox ;-))

For me it works, if i do not "import" your file.

When i copy the file directly to the mapitem folder of locus and select your kmz, the map is also diplayed after locus restart

Hello Einar,

Guys already wrote everything important (thank you). Maybe some steps how to handle with KMZ files:

1. Please copy your KMZ file into folder Locus/mapItems

2. Start Locus and go to the Menu > Data > tab Items > open folder MapItems

3. Here you should see your KMZ file -> select it (orange background signalize that item is shown on map)

4. Return to the main map screen

5. Locus remember your choose and shows KMZ after restart

I’d like to point out that in this case you don’t need to call Import function. Locus simple reads file from Locus/mapItems directory when it starts. In Locus you can not see KMZ file in Map > personal tab but in Data > Items tab.

This solved my problem!

"In Locus you can not see KMZ file in Map > personal tab but in Data > Items tab."

In Data > Items tab I can also deselect my kmz file to see the layers under it!

Thank`s for helping me with this problem.

Good day Jafar,

1. please create a separate topic with your problem, do not write about some issues you have, to topics that are already solved, answered or different topic. Thanks for understanding.

2. quickly to your problem - unfortunately such huge files are almost impossible to load into this application. Your file probably contains Ground overlay maps. There is no exact limit to size of Ground overlay maps (because it really differ base on device) anyway more then around 20, 30 MB is not recommended.
