sorry for a late response. Unfortunately I'm not yet skilled with secure http connection. Did you tried it on your own?

HTTPS protocol should be fully support for custom live tracking system. If this will really works depends on certificate used on server-side.

There are two cases:

server use certificate used/already installed by Android device, there should be no problem
certificate is not installed in device, then is it needed to do it manually
