LM searches permanently for heartrate sensor when tracking

Hi,

I have conntected 3 ANT+ sensors. Speed, cadence and heartrate. The hr sensor came later. But since then LM searches permanently for the hr sensor when I'm tracking and I don't have that on me.

For speed and cadence it doesn't search when I'm tracking on my bike without the sensors.

It searches only for the hr sensor. And then LM isn't usable while tracking (pls see screen).

Hi Jan,

if you don't use any ANT+ connected HR monitor, please disable HR in your Locus ANT+ manager (Locus menu > more > Ant+ manager)

I use one. But not on every ride. And LM searches for the sensor at every tracking.

I don't understand this because LM doesn't search for speed and cadence sensor when they are not available.

Hi Jan,

please check if you have the HR monitor set to auto-start with your track recording profile.

Hi Michal,

I have set all 3 sensors to auto-start. But LM searches only for the HR sensor. Not for the other 2 ANT+ sensors.

Now I have a workaround with a second cycle tracking profile with unset auto-start of sensors. But it's only a workaround for me.

I think LM searches in background for my other sensors (cadence and speed). And when they aren't available "it's ok" for LM. But when my HR sensor isn't available I get this messege (screenshot in 1. post) in forground and nothing else could be done on the hole smartphone. When I press cancel in this window it goes away and comes back (in foreground) after some seconds.

Good day Jan,

the little more complicated task for me to solve. Fact that Locus Map tries to connect to your HR monitor when it's requested over recording profile is from my point of view correct. Anyway, understand that in your case, it is obtrusive because you do not have this sensor attached at this moment.

What you may try is to open ANT manager in the application and in the panel with "Heart rate monitor", choose Tools and "Connection type" set to "Silent". This is most probably set also for your speed and cadence sensors? Give it a try. Then you should get no notification if sensors are not available.

Let us know if this helped.

I have set the HR sensor to silent. Unfortunately this does not change anything.

Once again the situation: I ride on one of my bikes without any of the 3 sensors I use otherwise.

The sensors for speed and rpm are not searched for. LM probably accepts that these sensors are not available. This is not the case with the HR sensor. It is permanently searched for. With the search the window appears (see screenshot) and nothing on the smartphone is usable anymore.

I can switch off the autostart for the HR sensor at every start, if I do not carry the sensor with me. But I don't feel like it.

As a workaround I created a profile for tracking without autostarting the sensors. However, I don't always want to have to check or change the profile before every start.

I would like to mention again that I have had the sensors for speed and rpm for quite some time and that I never noticed the problem. Only when the HR sensor was added, this problem occurred.

Can't LM simply accept that the HR sensor is not available if it is not available?

Good day Jan,

I'm sitting on this problem now and trying to find any place that explains why this happens to you.

Based on the source code, all three sensors use exactly the same code to handle its lifecycle. When the app starts sensors, it does it in a certain order and heart rate monitor is the last one so maybe because of this, you see only this sensor in the dialog and not the speed & cadence.

If there is no issue in ANT+ library (probably not), "SILENT" mode really should help here. So please verify once more that you have correctly set this for HR monitor (best for all three sensors).

Unfortunately Jan, I currently do not have any solution for you. The same issue does not happen on my device and I see no information that may help me to solve this because whole communication is hidden in private ANT library provided by the Garmin company.

Sorry and thanks for understanding.
