loading downloaded map needs more than 20 minutes

Solved

hi folks,

i downloaded a google hybrid map (area of 50x50km) for winter hiking. the *.sqlitedb file size is 1.3gb. locus needs approximately 20 minutes (or more) to load it. imho this is not normal because i used the same way last year... the database file was more than 1.9gb and the loading procedure was shorter.

do anyone has an idea what`s up and how to fix it?

thx in advance.

hm can`t confirm here.

corrupt sqlitedb ?

corrupt sdcard ?

try to split the map in smaller parts

- Copy all parts in an extra folder and add this folder to your maps.

- Locus will to handle this folder like a map.

Hello,

mainly interesting for me is, that this loading, no matter how long it takes, should be performed only once! Locus should initialize this map and every next start of app should be immediately. For you, Locus initialize this map everytime?

solved the problem...

copied all maps (own or vector) in one temporary folder

deleted all journal data

renamed all maps

copied all back to the folder of origin

initialised, done!

the initialising pop up whitch appeared before is gone... :)

Very good information, thank. I also wanted to suggest you deleting mainly **Locus/cache** directory

I`m really glad it helped and now it works as expected. Enjoy fast starts ;)

hi,

i`m not sure if i should post here since this problem is marked as solved but i have a new one...

... now, when locus starts as fast as a simple app of stopwatch it loses the connectivity to the maps folder. especially but not only when other apps access to the sd card.

locus opens and the own maps folder is empty. it is needed for me to restart locus to find the maps ind the own maps tab.

the stupid is that begun Downloads are stopped then and can not be resumed from the map downloading manager...

any idea?

all what you wrote leads me to think, that there have to be some problem with your SD card. If you will have time, may you try to check your card with some diagnostic tool or format it? Because I do not have reported any problems with Locus in this way ...

i`ll do so. if you can pls recommend a propper tool to do this...
